Convenient location to the town, but completely unmanaged campsite. The bins were overflowing after 3 days of not being emptied. People were leaving garbage bags beside the bins and the animals were tearing them apart over night. The pit toilets haven't been cleaned in 4 days and can be smelled from 200 meters away. Each camp site has bits of garbage dotted about the hedges and gravel. The drains for grey water are overflowing at all sites. When questioning this with the BC Parks Warden, he advised to just pour it in the bushes beside our camp. Really!?? Other campers loud and running generators past midnight. Seems the park warden just doesnt care. 100% the worst kept BC Parks site we've been to. We brought two young kids too and had to worry about them getting sick from using the facilities. Head Office needs to look into it.

Clean and fairly spread out campsites. Just a few minute walk to the beach. No power, no fires at campsites due to a clean air rule—although people used propane ones. Communal fires, well-kept outhouses, showers/change rooms with a power outlet at the change rooms if you really need it. A couple large structures/wood covers at the beach for hosting probably 50 people. A park. Park staff was very friendly. The bay hosts the harbour airport as well. So you hear and sea airplanes landing on porpoise bay all throughout the day.

Absolutely beautiful place to take a little hike. We took a stroll around the beach, the view was gorgeous, it was very clean. The trails through the woods almost make you feel like you’ve been transported into a magical realm, the trees are huge, the logs and rocks are covered with moss. Walking beside the creek and taking in the fresh air really makes you feel so serene. If you’re looking for somewhere to relax and take in the cool ocean air, check this place out!

We camped here early in the season. It is very rainy so we didn't get to do a lot of exploring. The campground is well shaded with large trees, it is a bit chilly. I imagine this will be a great campground to stay at during the hottest days.

The outhouse (that we got to use) stinks during our camping trip. We think they haven't been pumped yet for the season. The shower room have seen better days. There are 2 showers in the female washroom and 4 toilets. 2 of the toilet cubicles won't lock properly. The shower cubicles have some gaps between - one has to be mindful where to stand while changing clothes to avoid being seen by the shower neighbour/toilet user neighbor. Shower room get cleaned on a scheduled basis - check the schedule on front of the building. Shower building is closed during clean up but there's an outhouse outside for campers to use. There's also a shower building in the park's day use area. Hot shower is perfect temperature (not too hot).

The campsite we booked has an uneven ground. And, because it is raining during our camping trip, some water pools around making it challenging to move around. Campsite is also a little muddy - not enough rock/gravel on the ground.

The campsites on lane of 17 - 76 backs up to houses.

No staff/host came to check us in during our stay eg. to check our id's and reservation.

Campsites are well spaced but very open (lacks bushes for privacy).

The day use area is busy regardless of the rain. It's very wide and would most likely be busier if the weather is better. I'd imagine this is a busy park during summer. Picnic and water activities will be great here.

There is cell service on this campground so one can not fully disconnect. Others might find that beneficial.

My camping experience here is only okay. I camped in other places (even in rain) and this is the least I liked so far. But, I bet camping here would be great during...

Pros: close to the beach NIcely spaced camp sites Affordable Cons:

No electric outlets in individual sites There are only 2 showers in the entire campground No hot water(?). I was brushing my teeth and wash my face in one of the 2 sinks, and ran the hot water for at least 5 minutes and there was no hot water. I’m worried that they may not have hot water in the shower. I will update the review once I find out.

*Update: they had hot water in the shower, but you have to keep pressing multiple times (every 10-20 seconds?) to keep the water running. *Update2: I noticed that the shower was dirty (large ball of hair) at around 6:30am. It says it’s scheduled to clean twice a day, 11:30pm-1:30am. This means either it hasn’t been cleaned in the evening or someone took a shower after 1:30am. *Update3: Daytime cleaning schedule is 12 noon-1:30pm. I live in a 890sq place and my cleaner comes weekly to clean the entire place in 4 hours. Does it really need 1.5 hours during prime daytime to clean a small bathroom of 2 showers and 4-5 stalls, twice a day? I came at 1:26pm and the bathroom was still locked; there was a long line up of people 7 females waiting to use the bathroom. The “pit toilet” is disgusting and I was gagging as soon as I walked in, and couldn’t use it. No campfire allowed in individual campsite Update 4: I noticed that there was no soap for about 48 hours in the female bathroom. I’m just curious what involves “twice a day bathroom cleaning if soap is not replenished twice a day”. A male park ranger finally came into the female bathroom at around 8:30am (outside of cleaning hours) to replenish the soap. There were many female using the bathroom at the time including showers and...

I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews. We are camping for a week and I’ve seen the park rangers 6 times a day maybe even more, always see them re filling TP in out houses, changing garbage’s cleaning sites once someone has left. The main bathroom has two showers in womens washroom water was warm and hot no complaints as it is camping and I’m surprised they even offer showers or plumbing for the fact it’s CAMPING!!! So I’m grateful for that. All neighbours where great some loud people but it was before 11 and we didn’t mind. The beach was awesome the access to it was easy to find. We come here once a year and it never disappoints. I do recommend you make a reservation online so you can secure a spot and not have to try and find one when you show up and hoping there is one because guarantee it’s all reserved. Also always check for fire ban because having a fire pit is good to have on the colder nights. There is a huge grassy area to set up yard games so don’t forget your games. :) ...
