My husband & I reserved a week long stay at this rv resort - our 1st visit to the Peterborough area for camping. We were anticipating exploring Ennismore (a little Irish community), attending the farmers market and visiting family; friends from Brampton were also bringing their RV for the weekend making it a complete week. Our 1st evening there, my husband wanted a swim at the community pool on site. It was shortly after 9 p.m. when we walked back to our truck; it was dark. I was blinded by the lights of a truck, walked unknowingly into a quagmire of mud, slipped and wrenched my back. This mud pit is located both by the children's playground and the hot tub. I spent from Monday evening til Thursday afternoon using OTC painkillers and topical gel which only took the edge off the pain. We left our 5th wheel on site and returned home to the Orillia area to attend a walk-in clinic. I have cracked my SI joint and suffered a severe back strain requiring a Rx analgesic and future physiotherapy. When my husband returned to the park on Friday a.m. to pack up our RV the owner (Gary), whom we had not met, was not available. We were not charged for the remaining 3 nights on our reservation. However, I am most disappointed that Gary has made no attempt to offer any type of compensation nor has he contacted me to see how I am faring. We feel it was negligence to have a mud pit in such a busy area. I did speak to the desk re filling it in with stones to prevent another incident; however, rather than stone the park used sand which will merely add to the size of the quagmire following a rain. We were so looking forward to this week of camping. The ATV (packed to use on local trails) and 2 kayaks remained on our utility trailer, unused. Six days later, I am still...
Read moreBeen a seasonal resident at Bailey's Bay since 2018 and I've experienced high and low points with the park. I can say confidently that we are at one of the best points we've ever been over that period of time. Peter the new manager has done so much in his short time to completely revitalize the place including a new beach, swim dock, fishing dock, and events and entertainment every weekend. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is because the roads need some serious work in spots. As I understand it, Peter wants to ensure the drainage is done right as a hasty but poorly done job will simply crack and fall apart again, which means we might be waiting till the off season. But if recent experience is any indication, I am optimistic we'll see these improvements next year.
Of course the fellow residents are what truly make the place. We have great neighbors and friends across the park, which help make every weekend fun. Chemong is a nice lake too for boating, fishing,...
Read moreHave been here for one season. Best feature here is the community - super helpful, friendly and engaged. Lots of community activities, and people are super responsive if anyone need helps or have any questions. We just walk around and keep meeting new friends. The bay is excellent for kayaking and fishing. Small boats need to watch out for depth and submerged rocks and sand bars, but the navigation maps are well marked so just use a GPS app like Navionic. Management here is good. Jen and Emily are very friendly and efficient. It is a big park and a diverse community, so considering that I think the small management team here does a great job keeping everything in decent shape. Yes, the grass could be greener, and the beach could use more sand, etc. But overall this is a well ran park with reasonable fees. The COMMUNITY, though, is what will...
