Stayed at this hotel with a friend for a night out. Upon entering the hotel I saw that it was not very wheelchair accessible which was very disappointing. The service at the front desk was mediocre at best. They checked me in and sent me on my way without a “how ya doin” or a “enjoy ur night”. The room I had booked was a 2 Queen bed “efficiency” room. The kitchen area was outdated (as to be expected with a $100 a night fee) however the room was a good size and looked fairly comfortable. Outside noises travel through into the room very easily and the room was full of small stains and strange smells. The bathroom was the most disappointing with hairs left all over the door, sink, and bathtub. The mirror had streak marks and some handprints all over it, which were very visible when the steam from the shower got on it. The shower was another issue. The setting on the shower head were very uncomfortable and the shower itself made a very very loud squealing noise from the pipes that WOULD NOT stop the entire time. This was very annoying and there was nothing that could have been done about it. All the furniture in the room was full of wear and tear and scratches and or fading paint. The TV remote was scotch taped together. Every surface in the room was full of dust and the air vent had pieces of dust falling from it. Not good for someone with Any breathing or lung illnesses. My room also advertised a desk and there was none in the room. The tap water tastes a lot worse than regular st.John’s tap water. I honestly can not recommend this place to anyone. I’ve seen a lot of poor reviews dated 2 or 3 years prior to this one and honestly in 2022 the room I had was still a let down. This room seems to be in the middle class of the price range at this hotel. So I would expect it to be...
Read moreThis review is a bit late as we stayed there August 1st 2024. I called to book the hotel and the personnel on the phone was a bit dismissive. I had tried earlier to book online but the company code (my boyfriend's place of work) for a discount had not seemed to be working. The code had worked on the employees end over the phone but apparently their discount through the hotel was "less expensive" than going through with the company discount. Seemed far fetched as the price they gave me was more expensive than anything advertised online... but at this point I just wanted to book the room and get it done with. The staff at the front desk were so nice! They had even offered us an ice cream bar when we were checking in. The lobby and hallways were outdated but had charm. The room initially looked clean and modern. Bed was esthetically pleasing and looked clean and there was what looked like newish flooring. Bathroom at first glance looked clean but was not! This for me is the biggest deal breaker. Nothing like feeling uncomfortable and not wanting to touch anything while taking a shower and getting ready. Overall the stay was just ok and not reflective of the price. We stayed at the Sandman later in the week at the same price as the Ramada because our company code actually worked out to be a discount there. The friendly staff was the best part of the Ramada. Also if you have a fear of elevators take the stairs! This elevator worked just fine and I don't have a fear of elevators but this one seemed a bit unstable. Check in and check out were...
Read moreStayed here for over a week. The room itself was comfortable and clean, but the hotel definitely needs an update — the carpets feel like they’re straight out of the 80s. My biggest concern, however, was the front desk experience. I called from Toronto on my way to ask about an early check-in. The staff member I spoke with didn’t take any of my information but assured me it wouldn’t be an issue. When I arrived, there were no rooms available early. My partner is a Diamond member with Wyndham, which is the only reason we chose this hotel, but the service did not reflect that level of membership. The front desk agent was argumentative and dismissive throughout our interaction. When I asked about upgrading to a suite, I was told, “It’s not as nice as the room you’re going to,” which was surprising since I’d stayed in that suite last year and knew otherwise. When I asked if changing rooms would affect the rate, he laughed and said, “No, you’re using points.” I reminded him that only three of our nine nights were on points and that we were paying for the rest. He also claimed at one point that he couldn’t find my reservation, only to locate it a minute later. I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years, and this was one of the most uncomfortable front desk experiences I’ve had. It set the wrong tone for the entire stay. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning to...
