We've stayed at Huttopia 5 or 6 times over the years.
If you plan to bring your own tent to camp- DON'T. This isn't the place for that, the tent sites are horribly located (very far from anything) They have 2 or 3 okay tent sites but now they charge for you to pick your site (which is absolutely stupid as any other campground makes that part of the reservation process)
We've stayed in the deluxe tents with bathroom/kitchen and beds and if you can book off season, it is probably the best quality/price here.
Our second chalet stay (February 2022) was not great. The main road was completely icy and they said they couldn't put salt or dirt because it was snowing?! So half the cars could not get up and we needed to walk to and from our car (it's a steep hill!) Luckily we got a ride for our stuff and the kids walked. Our chalet had a serious ant problem. I complained multiple times but because they fully book there was no way to switch. I'm talking huge black ants throughout the chalet (#15). Someone came and sprayed after I called twice. There should not be ants in a chalet in the winter. It's 100% from cleanliness of food being left out, and there were bug traps in the kitchen area full of ants even though they tried to explain that the ants come in on the firewood (impossible, it was minus 20) I was offered a free bundle of wood ($10 value) even when brought up to management. This is a 2 star accommodation (I'm guessing because it's rustic camping) but they charge 4 star city prices. They really need to up their game because the location itself can't carry the costs. Cheap furniture and kitchen items, linens and towels. It's almost insulting. Overall, it's a nice place. Sutton is great, there is a lot to explore, and in the summer it's nice to grab a coffee, have a swim, let the kids play on the wood playground area and obstacle course and enjoy the nearby creeks. But, they truly need to work on the...
Read moreWe recently came back from 2 nights at Huttopia. We stayed in the Canadienne tent #7 (Electricity but no water). It was a wonderful experience The staff were friendly and accommodating. Kudos to Kim for her excellent customer service and the gentleman who helped me with my cart ( he just came back from being off with a fractured ankle, merci) I have camped in many places but this was the first place that had everything right down to the sheets, towels and propane. You really only need to bring your food. The campsites are large and clean. Great for people who want to try camping. There was something for everyone. A river to play in, homade obstacle courses for big or small, pool, trails, games and books at your disposal. Huttopia is doing its best to be eco-friendly. I would not recommend Huttopia for people with mobility issues. Vehicles must be parked in parking lots near your site. There are wagons there to cart your stock in.The paths are forested so you must manoeuver around roots and rocks. We were located near the top, there were only 2 toilets for alot of people. It was a bit of a trek to the washroom ( hoping it was free) and for water. I would recommend they at least add another water source deeper in to help the campers. The lower campsites have 2 bathroom building and 2 wash sinks next to each other which made no sense to me since it seemed everyone camped closer to the top. All in all it was a great first experience at Huttopia, I would...
