Night guard thatâs nowhere to be found when we arrived late, and once we did find him he was inside where nobody could access him (inside a locked building where we shined a light through a window since somebody said theyâd seen him on the porch earlier). He had allowed somebody into our spot when we had reserved it months in advance, so we had to go into a lesser spot.
This campground is full of rough people. Teens kicking in bathroom stall doors where my wife was using the bathroom, cars drag racing up and down the paths all night long, people playing loud music all night, people letting their unfriendly dogs run around off leash and unattended. Their dog got us sprayed by a skunk at 2 am, and they didnât even have an apology or word to say about it. Lots of people living here in tents long term.
The bathrooms were nasty, and the place extremely disorganized.
The one positive I have is that the daytime front desk employee was very friendly and helpful. We didnât have any Canadian dollars since weâd crossed the border later in the evening, and she helped us out with giving us Canadian money for our US money (they donât usually do that) so that we could do laundry to try and get the skunk odor out of everything.
Stay anywhere but here. It was the worst campground weâve stayed at anywhere in the world and we had an awful nights sleep there. Iâd give it zero stars if itâs possible, aside from the nice girl working...
Read moreWhile the roads to get here are a little bit rough because thunder Bay hasn't fixed them, this place is a hidden jewel. Very well maintained campground with adjacent fields for events, playground, and two separate beaches. It has a lot of picnic area. For those people who are tent camping or trailer camping, this is an excellent area. It's well mowed and kept up, the bathrooms are in excellent condition, and they have free hot showers with excellent shower facilities. They have washers and dryers, three of each, that go off of $2.50 Canadian for a run each. There are a lot of mosquitoes right now, but that seems to be everywhere. For those people who have traveled more internationally, you will appreciate the shared kitchen commons. There are two stoves and two microwaves and two sinks running hot and cold water. There is plenty of places to prep meals and eat them at sturdy bench tables inside. It's well lit overall. I can't say enough about this place it is truly excellent. From both of the beaches there is an excellent view of the sleeping giant across part of...
Read moreGreat location, price, view, facilities and history- this was the place to be a decade or so ago but it was a really great time and information desk was super helpful for helping us find places around TB to visit. Swim at your own risk with the sign that says "40% chance of there being e coli." But you can go to the super awesome campground at Sleeping Giant park to swim or down the road at the next beach. Chippewa's amusement park needs a reboot and the animal exhibit is closed. I don't think the Chippewa website has current info on it about what they offer. It would be good to confirm with them before going to make sure you have the right...
