Motel Canadien — Hotel in Trois-Rivières

We were going to stay in a more upscale hotel in Trois Riviere, but so glad we didn't. Our room was spacious, clean and quiet. We loved the faux fireplace that added some ambiance to the chilly evening. Other reviews mentioned the owners don't speak English. Although the wife doesn't, she grabbed her husband who had enough English to recommend a nice restaurant for dinner. We had fun exploring the neighborhood directly behind the motel, which consists of farm houses and fields. The rooms are very clean with small sitting areas and electric fireplaces. They are pretty funky and quirky (in a fun way!) in terms of decoration, lots of colours and a great atmosphere! However the room I was in (may not be true for all rooms) had a tub that was so steeply slanted and crooked I was off balance the whole time I showeres and almost fell several times. Charming classic motel across the lightly traveled highway from the river. Though a little dated, you can tell owners care about the property and guest comfort.
