So, it's that time of year once again where we hit the road and travel only where the sun shines.||The start of our escapade ended at a fishing lodge owned by the Swiss in Port Loring. What a fantastic find, thanks to those who posted on Trip Advisor about this resort.||What a great place! Now, as I say that, it's not what I would call "the be all and end all" resort, however it's a great place to lay your head, enjoy mother nature, the peace and quiet, fish or schedule a water plane out to one of the cabins the lodge rents.||One of the few additional things to enjoy is the resident cat Moe, the employees there that are great at what they do like the cooking from the kitchen with patio or inside dining overlooking the lake when served, which also includes a nice woman who can play the piano to the tune from the Scorpions (Winds of Changes) and the voice to sing that as well and one that runs the resort, Lionel (hoped that's right) Super Great Hospitality!||We really liked their food, the wine from Vineland Estates, the Schnitzel dinner and the fishing...though each of us lost our lures attempting to catch bass/pike from the shore (lol).||It was nice to know what was advertised about this resort was as posted.||You won't be disappointed booking at Tornados whether booking the cabins or one of the "motel" like rooms with the exception that the motel rooms are much more like a fishing cabin than one of their "house like" cabins. Also, keep in mind this resort is "off the beaten path" so if your looking for wifi or tv...this place is "off the grid...."||Enjoy all...very pleasently surprised :)||Cheers,||Definitely would...

Read moreWe ended up here after our regular summer destination closed. We rented 4 cabins for 1 week. We have very small children up to 16yrs old in our group. ||The cabins were just what you would expect - small, cozy, clean. Warm water, full kitchen, lots of windows that opened to let the breeze in. The cottages all have front porches with chairs and a line to hang your wet stuff on. ||||The grounds were nice - a bit under construction and due to some crazy rain we lost the beach for most of the week. The water was a nice shallow entrance though - which was great for the kids. There's a little dock to swim out to and jump off. The kids loved fishing from the boat and right off the dock. There's a fish hut to clean your fish. ||There's a little swingset/park that my little ones loved. ||||One of the highlights was watching the airplanes take off and come in. We were told rides were available for a fee but we didn't take advantage of that. Also there's usually a restaurant that wasn't in service due to covid. ||||We had wifi in our cottage but not everyone did. You always had the option of going up near the office if you needed a stronger signal. I had to work one morning, so I sat at an outside table with my laptop and coffee - very relaxing. ||||My only word of warning is that this place is kind of in the middle of nowhere. Port Loring is nearby but you're only going to find your basic needs (bread, milk, alcohol), so make sure you pack what you need. ||||If we can't go back to our regular place next summer, I really hope Tornados has room...
