I pre-booked 5 cabins for my sons wedding in June, and Heather and her husband Gary took very good care of us. All of our cabins were along the water with beautiful views of the lake with majestic sounds of the loons at night. Our check-ins were smooth, and when we forgot to bring foil and condiments for a BBQ, they even lent us their own. The cabins were very clean, and the resort was very quiet. I didn't give the resort a 5 star because you can't drink the water or use it to brush your teeth as there are too many tannins in the water, and all of the Whiteshell area has this problem. We brought our own water, and Heather and Gary also sell 5 gallon water bottles in case you need some. Although the porches have screens to keep out the mosquitos, the screens have large spaces where they still get inside. I would definitely recommend staying at Jessica Lake, and I would return just for a weekend getaway. We had a lovely stay with our families, and are very thankful that Heather & Gary were able to...
Read moreWe stayed three nights in one of the cabins but were disappointed with our experience. On the plus side the view was lovely, the screened in verandah was great and it is a beautiful beach.||||Having said that, the bed was very firm - I always look for reviews that talk about a comfortable bed and I must have missed this one. Drinking water was not supplied and we had to bring our own - a small economy given the price. The hot tub was old, the jets were not powerful and the water was yellow. The steam shower did not function. The satellite tv was very tricky to use. Little things needed fixing - a screen was torn, a knob kept falling off, the wire on the kettle was frayed, a pedal was missing on the pedal boat.||||Not the owners fault, but the deer flies-horse flies were vicious and took much of the pleasure out of sitting outside. ||||Compared to one of the other Whiteshell resorts where we stayed this winter, Jessica Lake came in a...
Read moreOur weekend started with the oven not working properly soon followed by food encrusted bakeware. The owner came to rectify the problems....forgiven. Saturday comes....10:30 AM we are treated to the noise and smell of the septic truck pumping out the cabins (the resort owner was operating the truck). This carried on until mid afternoon, we understand this process is neccessary but perhaps there is a better time to do this...like Friday before all the weekend guests arrive or Monday after they leave. Late afternoon we were startled and annoyed by more noise, this time is was leaf blowers right outside our cabin window and on our front steps. It was so loud that the operators (one was the owner) needed hearing protection. It was not the peaceful escape we were looking for. We would have rather listened the noisy children their website...
