The campground itself is crammed between the highway and the shore, making the everpresent sounds of passing traffic compete with the sounds of water lapping or crashing against the shore. The electrical sites being of various sizes, and offering very little to no privacy between sites. Non electrical sites, especially those in the higher numbers, offered more privacy and a woodsy feel. The availability of pit toilets is plentiful if a bit malodorous. Cleanliness was so-so in the pits, but the comfort stations were decent, and water pressure was great, though the plumbing needed attention as there was one shower constantly running the 4 days we were there due to a plumbing issue. Taps for potable water were also widely available. We found our campsite to have a lot of litter on it and a fair bit of litter was seen throughout the campground unfortunately. The park has a wonderful visitors centre with a lots to look through, and a charming little gift shop. The staff were by and large very nice to deal with and were very engaging when involved in their educational programs. The outdoor amphitheatre is in disrepair and is not being used at this time. Despite any shortcomings the campground may have had, the beach was lovely and includes a large dog beach. The rocks and pebbles at the beach are colourful and great fun to sift through, and the waves and wind by the water can get wild, showcasing the power and majesty of the forces of nature over water. All this said, the absolute best feature of this campground is that it is a great place to venture out from! The beauty of this park is definitely not found in the campgrounds, but in all the adventures that can begin from here. There are beautiful trails taking you to breathtaking views, and many wonderful spots to be discovered and enjoyed after short hikes. The myriad lakes including Superior, offer all levels of challenge to those choosing to dip a paddle or hoist a sail. It would take many summers to really experience all that this park has to offer, and the beautiful geography will be indelibly stored in your memories for a lifetime. This park gets more amazing based on how much you are willing to venture out and do.

First time camping ever but this campground offered a wonderful experience! We got a beachfront site, lot number 255 and it was a beautiful experience with nature. Our camp site was right in front of a stream that led into Lake Superior. A great place to put your drinks to keep them cold, or to wash a your hands without having to run to the lake or waste water! You sleep at night to the sound of the waves and have the pleasure of the most amazing view of our starry sky. The trails in Agawa Bay camping grounds are diverse. We visited the Agawa Pictographs and a mossy trail that leads to Siclair Cove. The rapids at Orphan Lake are beautiful as well. The nearest convenient store (or any store, other than the camp ground store) is 65k from the camp site. The camp ground store sells souvenirs, ice and fire wood, although I would recommend the firewood from the convenient store if you can make the stop.

The campground has good size lots, many located directly on the beach. The sunsets are beautiful and the star viewing is incredible. The campground personal are professional, friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The gentleman on duty was able to help change some reservations in the park for us with no problems. The toilets are pit style with sinks. There are two shower buildings with a small laundry. Canoes are available for rental. The beach is made of stones and the water is crystal clear. The park has many hiking trails, waterfalls, lakes and scenic views. Canoes can also be rented at Rabbit Blanket Lake and the Park Office. There is only one road to travel through the park and it goes by the campground so you will hear traffic into the night. There are no service stations or stores between Pancake Bay and Wawa, a 151 kilometers. We can't wait to go back again.

If you're camping for several days, i'd highly suggest looking at a different provincial park. We live adjacent to the QEW in the Toronto area and I think we'd have had a quieter nights sleep camping in our driveway than at this park. The campground is literally only a few meters away from the highway and you can hear the roar of every single car and truck that goes by ripple into your tent or camper. There's zero feeling of seclusion or a sense of being hidden away in a quiet campsite. It's LOUD. For a park so massive, it's really a head scratcher why the campsite was positioned here - in a skinny section of the park abutting onto the highway.

The plumbing in the showers was awful and this park needs to hire a plumber ASAP. 2 of the showers were out of order, and one was impossible to turn off and was constantly dripping and wouldn't dispense hot water. The 4th shower was also very difficult to shut off and the lever was all messed up. I eventually managed to get it to dispense hot water, but it took LOTS of manipulating. Also, none of the faucets in the bathroom dispensed hot water. Probably because any hot water is being wasted by the showers that won't turn off.

The only reason I don't give this campground a 1 star is the tree canopy above the campsites is lovely. And there's plenty of water fill up stations. The park store and visitors centre is very impressive too and there's a lovely view at Agawa Bay. But in all honesty, after having visited a couple of state parks on this trip, this park was a huge disappointment in comparison. Again, if you're looking for a lengthy stay in a nice quiet campground, this is NOT the...

If you're looking for somewhere to stay overnight this is okay because it's right off of the highway. But other than beautiful sunsets and nice beaches which you can find anywhere along Lake Superior I would never stay at this campsite again. I'm in the second row 50 m away from the highway. I've got the ocean in one ear and transport trucks going by and the other ear while I'm trying to enjoy the campfire. Go to bed at night that's all you hear is transport trucks going by. Even the sites by the ocean you would still hear the transport trucks maybe just not as loud. Two days after I got there the main bathrooms were shut down at the one station which I specifically got a place close by to the station so I can use the plumbing and hot water which half the time there was no hot water anyways and the guy was just telling us that's because people don't know how to use it what is so hard about turning on a tap and getting hot water out of it. I thought that was pretty rude of him. So 200 campsites down to one station bathroom with four showers and it was still shut down when I left 3 days later. Meanwhile I'm still paying the full price. Not only that but I found the campsite small and crowded. No privacy here. I'm sure there's lots of nicer places not so close to the highway along...
