Lake Superior Park is beautiful but the water at this campground detracted from an otherwise amazing experience. The water from all campground taps was rust colored, it was indicated to be potable; but, when boiled, it left a ring of precipitate on the pot at the water line . We chose not to drink this water though we did use it in some cooking. My advice would be to bring your own water. The camp ground is relatively close to the highway so you can hear some traffic. With a few improvements this could be a much better campground and more fitting of the beautiful park it is in.
UPdate 2020 Back at Rabbit Blanket. Love it. Great young staff, clean but of course limited services because of Covid-19. Water treatment improved but no test results to ensure drink ability. Ran tap for some time, highly aerated water was opaque with bubbles then rust again as the tap ran longer. We brought extra water that we filled at Agawa Bay so decided against using the water from the Rabbit Blanket camp ground again. Being water enjoy this small quiet campground. We...
Read moreWe stayed here the last week of August 2023. It was beautiful and amazing. It's so quiet. A lot of the campsites are unique and have different levels for sleeping areas. Choose a flatter campground if you're planning on having a few drinks though because if you don't have proper lighting at your campsite and you're in one of the multi-level ones that compose a problem for you. I'm so glad that no spots were open at the other campground in the park because it's way too touristy and was packed and by the highway rabbit blanket is much quieter. You are also 20 minutes from Wawa and Young's general store which has the best pickles ever which are in a barrel when you first walk into the store. Do not miss these! We did the Nokomis trail which is nearby and went to old woman bay and it was absolutely gorgeous! I have never climbed a mountain before and it was exhilarating. The smell of the red cedar in these forests is just unparalleled. I can't...
Read moreThis campsite was alright. For me from all the campsites we visited along lake Superior, this was probably the lowest on the list. From the service in the park which was alright, I felt other park employees were much nicer and openly provided suggestions and recommendations. Here when we asked, we got a bit of the cold shoulder. The site also has a small lake, which compared to lake Superior is not much. We had an inside electric site (only one available), but I imagine that the ones by the lake are much better. This campsite is close to hwy 17, so you can still hear the cars. There were other sites further away from the hwy, but we didn't venture out. Also, the outhouse washroom, was the worst from all the ones we stayed at. I'd be prepared to walk to the main washroom. Also, I'm pretty good at reading maps and finding my way, I felt the map provided was a bit misguided. Didn't find this at...
