Can I just say...that the drive alone is worth going to this park. I drove from Toronto to the gated entrance. The level of remoteness is unmatched to anything else that I have experienced before. I felt so calm. I felt at ease. Mind you, I didn't even get into the park lol. I only got to the gate, it was closed, I assume because the park is not yet open. Which is fine. Park opens up in a couple days, on Friday May 12th, 2023. I was really driving up there to see if my car could actually make the journey. And it did. It was a bumpy ride. Do not follow directions on Google, after you get out of Chapleau and onto La Freniere Road. When google tells you to 'Make a very sharp left', carry on straight, do not make that left. It will tell you to make a left onto a bush logging road. Continue straight, follow the 'Ontario Parks' symbol signing, pointing you towards the park entrance. There is no cell service, so I suggest that you download a map, have one of those ancient old school maps, or by the grace of the universe just hope to get to the very end of the road (which was my take on it-because I lost service as soon as I drove north out of Chapleau). Be prepared. Getting to this park is not like other provincial parks. Couple of tips that I would recommend - Know how to change a tire, or get a digital 'tire repair' kit from Amazon which is what I did , especially if you do not have a 4X4 or off road vehicle. (I drive a 2016 Cheverlot trax, small SUV, regular tires so I was scared of getting a flat)I did not though. Keep the tire pressure low, drive slow. -Have lots of food or snacks, you can get food in Chapleau if you need - Fill up! The gas attendant at the Esso in Chapleau is kind and helpful. Thanks! I would recommend that you go there to get snacks and fill up gas -So you'll be driving through the Chapleau game reverse to get to the park, and you're probably bound to see some type of animal. I saw this cool bird that looked like a flamingo. In terms of larger animals that might appear, I did not see any bears, but its always good to be bear-wise. Learn more, educate yourself. Know when to react. -Remain steadfast, especially after you drive north out of Chapleau and onto the dirt logging road La Freniere road. Drive very slow and be mindful of oncoming cars, they will take you by surprise. Be alert. I will be back during operating season this year to camp here with my trailer for a few days at the very least :) And, I'll update this review to include some pictures of the interior of the park too after I visit. I added 3 photos of the park gate entrance. SO, if you see this gate and sign, you've made it.... almost :) You're on the right direction to the park entrance, which is another 11 KM down the road after this gate Cheers. Harleen Malli

Beautiful, stunning and peaceful. The fish are plenty. There are outhouses. No showers. Water that is available is not for consumption and runs out around 2 or 3 o'clock, depending. The fish cleaning shack has no water for cleaning around the same mentioned time frame noted above. The dock is in need of repair and could use an expansion. The lake is of great history, pictographs and wildlife.

Amazing campground! Me and my dad have been going here for a while now and have loved it every time the remoteness of the area is amazing! I'm always happy when my dad says we're going back!

This is the closest back pack camping experience one can have in a serviced setup, meaning 80Km from closest city, must be self sufficient, no full service washroom, no cell service, no light pollution, no noise pollution, bears are to show up, fox will walk by, you are the intruder in the bear land, etc. And fishing is spectacular provided you have boat. Ones who would like to stay away from bears, can move to their own Islands allocated for camping, another unique experience 😁.

The 80km gravel ride from Chapleau to the Park is fun. Aired down tires would make is even more comfortable.

We went late May, the whole area was flooded with Pine Pollen, you breathe pollen, you eat pollen, it's pollen everywhere. A unique experience.

Stuff members are laid back, very friendly...

Absolutely gorgeous park! Was worth the unpaved drive. Nobody was on the beach at all when I went, so I literally spent my day on a private beach watching the baby fish in the shallows and swimming. Found a black bear on my drive back in the evening as well! Be aware, the road there is completely unpaved and has some sharp dips and narrow paths in some parts, definitely need an off road vehicle. Stay alert too because several times, drivers came barreling around tight corners. Also just follow the road signs for the park, don't follow Google Maps! Google told me to turn into...
