I'd say that about half of the campsites here should NOT be used. They're painfully close to highway 60 which is used all-night-long by tractor trailers — literally zooming by within 10 meters of your tent. It sounded like a jet airplane was about to crash on top of us while we attempted to sleep. Seriously. Ontario Parks should close all of the Tea Lake campsites that are near the highway. ||||There are some more isolated campsites here that I assume must be quieter and more protected, but honestly, I'm ashamed and embarrassed as a Canadian to have many of those Tea Lake campsites in operation. For tourists visiting our province or country, or urbanites trying to escape the city, these close-to-the-highway campsite are absolutely disgraceful and unacceptable. ||||When booking, the Ontario Parks website does indeed note that noise was higher than usual at the site I booked, but the volume was ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE. Three sleepless nights (and I live in Toronto and can tolerate noise!). I'm ashamed and embarrassed of this camping experience as a Canadian. This is not what camping in our beautiful Algonquin Park should be like for anyone. ||||My husband, son, and I, were just looking for a nice peaceful long-weekend away from the city (Aug 2020). This campsite was a colossal disappointment. ||||From a technical standpoint, the facilities (bathrooms, etc.) were all well cared for, clean, and in good...
Read moreI have camped at many provincial parks throughout Ontario and this was my first time experiencing Algonquin. Algonquin is supposed to be like the Disneyland of camping well so I thought... This campsite is nice, it's small, the washrooms are really well kept however, it is right next to highway 60 (for those of you who don't know, that is the main road that goes through Algonquin) so it was quite noisy. The beach is nice, the lake is great and some of the sites right on the lake are beautiful! I went to the beach on a clear night to watch the stars but the beach is right next to the highway so you get high-beams flashing in your face every couple minutes. This isn't a bad park but I think there is better in Algonquin. If I were to go back to this campground I would try to get any site 21 through 30 (not 23) for the best...
Read moreThis was mixed for us. It was not our cup of tea. Pun intended, |Pro's |Small quiet campground 43 sites|Close to west entrance to Algonquin |Has comfort station. With showers and flush toilets. ||Cons|Very close to highway so it's not terribly relaxing|The small beach was terrible. All pebbles and dirt. |There is only one comfort station/ toilet in the whole campground. Had to walk nearly 5 min to go to the bathroom from our site. |There is nothing to do there. No trails, or canoe rentals. Canoe rentals don't deliver there either. |No park store|The sites are hit and miss for size and privacy. We had 43 it was great. 40, 41 and 42 are most private. ||So if you just like hanging at your campsite. This place isn't bad. But there are better campgrounds in the park for a full...
