We booked a week at Memquisit Lodge for the week at the end of July/beginning of August. In our group were two couples and a nineteen year old. ||The male half of the other couple in our group was the person who suggested Memquisit Lodge. He goes every year with 8 others for a week and has been going for approx. twenty years. In fact, his grandfather was a regular guest as well. I didn't understand their loyalty until I also had spent time at this resort. ||Although this is a resort, the way they have the cabins located, all of them are lakefront and all have their own private dock. There are also huge mature trees and large lots that separate the cottages from each other. This gives every cottage a fabulous amount of privacy. ||Boats are available to rent either by the day or by the week. At $100 per day or $250 for an entire week, the best option (unless you bring your own boat) is to rent one for the entire week. Plus, Lake Nippising is massive so you can go to different locations constantly. They have aluminum boats, but they also have gorgeous cedar boats which I have never seen for rent anywhere else. We brought our own boat, but next time (and yes, there will definitely be a next time) I think we will rent one of the wooden boats just for the novelty of it. These boats are equipped with comfortable fishing seats and motors that are reliable and powerful. ||The cabins have been around for a long time and inside are a bit dated. However, the reasonable rental prices reflect that fact and are well worth the money. The only thing I would have wished for would have been air conditioning as it was 30 degrees or more every day of our stay. But, a breeze off the lake, and the big, beautiful trees more than made up for lack of AC. ||There are many varieties of fish in the lake and between the five of us we caught Large Mouth Bass, Small Mouth Bass, Pickerel (Walleye), Northern Pike, Perch and even one small Sunfish. Supposedly there are huge muskie in the lake, but we didn't catch any. However, we did not have a fish finder. ||The grounds of this resort are GORGEOUS and you have the option of bringing your own food and cooking for yourself, or eating breakfast and dinner at the Lodge each day. ||There is a small store on site where you can not only buy groceries and other sundries, but you can even buy your fishing license there. They offer some high-quality items of clothing and baseball hats all embroidered with the Lodge name. Prices for these items were also quite reasonable.||I rate Memquisit Lodge as 4.9 out of 5 Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ |The 0.1 is because I wish the Lodge offered fish finders for rent, and for the lack of AC. ||I forgot to mention that pets are welcome at Memquisit Lodge and almost every group we saw had a dog with them, and even one cat. ||I highly recommend spending a week (or two) here and we plan to return...
Read moreMy son and I spent a week at Memquist and it was a great decision and terrific place. We were in Cottage 2, which is on an amazing hill and gives you a view of the surrounding area and especially the lake, although hauling stuff up there is a chore (but, frankly, entirely worth it). The cottage itself is simple but entirely functional - kettle, microwave, stove, sink, fridg, BBQ etc all in good working order. The beds aren't comfy hotel beds, but they are more than fine - this is a place where the outdoors is what matters. I did tease owner Frank about the couch in it -- it was a little hard on the back -- and he told me it was being replaced that week. So there you go, they are on top of things at Memquisit. ||||The fishing was good- lots of pike and bass and we found the walleye on Day 4, which were quite deep. The map Frank gives you is ideal and points to major fishing areas. Maybe I wish it was laminated so it didn't get wrecked when wet, but he did give us more than one copy so were okay. ||||The cedar strip boat we got was a palace on the water and if you're renting a boat, I'd take one just for the experience. Prices overall were great. Really, if you're looking for an outdoorsy vacation on Lake Nipissing, Memquisit is a...
