Windmill Family Campground — Hotel in West Perth

We booked cabin 6 and online booking was very easy to do. We camped during the week and it was very quiet. Large heated pool was great and the large bounce pillow was lots of fun for the kids. The mini golf is suitable for kids 6 and under. The playground equipment is older and the basketball nets need to be replaced. The shower in the cabin was either freezing cold or scalding hot. You have to toggle back and forth between them while showering. Cabin is updated and lots of room for a family of 4. We had sewage issues on the campsite that was taken care of rather quickly. Unfortunately the flies were very bothersome after the sewage issue. Load up on the bug spray! The mosquitoes are bad near the cabins (very moist forest behind them). The mini fridge does not have a freezer section in it; pack coolers and ice. BIGGEST issue… feeling like a circus animal to the seasonal campers. They like to drive their golf carts around the dead end cabin road non stop to stare at the campers. It’s beyond annoying and really not...

Our regular long weekend campground was fully booked this year, so we found sites here quite last minute. The owners were very helpful trying to accommodate our large group. We booked a combination of cabin, trailer sites, and tent sites. I would definitely recommend the cabins and the trailer sites. This is not a campground for tenting however. The original sites were washed out (and are basically just in a field). I have no doubt that the owners will improve the situation over time, but currently it isn’t suitable for tents.

I also commend the owners for going above and beyond for us. It was unfortunately a very rainy weekend, but the owners tried to compensate by providing us with firestarters, wood and other small services.

We rented cabin 1. I was told it was the oldest cabin. I understand, however, since the cabin is still being rented, i feel that it still needs attention regardless of how old it is. For example, the cabin is small BUT, there are no hooks to hang sweaters or towels. Also, there is no shelf to store groceries. The small fridge needs to be replaced as the door is already rusty. The floor needs mopping as it is full of dust under the bed. Again, i feel like they have taken for granted this cute little cabin. Corners are full of spider webs, we had to clean and spray the corners. All these small details could make this little cabin more interesting. Or maybe just renovate the whole thing otherwise, put some hooks and small shelves on the wall. The washrooms also need hooks to hang towels while showering.
