Staying at Black Spruce was a truly amazing experience. I expected no less. When I arrived at the airport, there were no rentals vehicles left. At all. However, I understood the situation: there were Yellowknife fires going on for the past week. It was cool to see, on occasion, a water bomber would come in to collect. Then there was whatever was happening in Dawson City at the time. I heard there was drinking involved. These people were driving all the rentals! /s Laird made everything great! When I arrived by taxi, he was working on a new project. It had been a dicey affair for me to get there, but when I arrived, I immediately felt like I was in good hands. He suggested getting an e-bike at Icycle Sports: I took it as a challenge and I accepted! I was happy to be there no matter what. Prior to my arrival, Laird patiently helped me with everything. We had been in constant contact throughout my getting there. This helped out quite a bit. It made it like going to see an acquaintance who knows the area and lets you stay at this cool place. The cabin itself was nice and spacious. I'd say it was well-appointed. I liked the huge window looking out into the woods. Pretty nice at this time of the season (late summer). Everything is well-maintained and, I like that you can keep walking along a trail, out back, and then on to a rock climbing wall not more than a 5 minute walk. The cabin had nice heavy blinds to keep some of the sun out, but really...what the heck are you doing sleeping in anyways?!? Whitehorse and Yukon awaits! The sauna was a nice treat at the end of an enjoyable bike journey. I enjoyed it very much. Being part-Finn, I can appreciate a good saw-oona. I applaud what Laird has accomplished here! Yes, it's kinda far from the downtown core, but I was able to pedal there - IN TURBO MODE!! - under 20 minutes. The hills weren't so bad on the way back. My thighs were like, 'try an e-bike they said, you'll have fun they said.' I did. I heard about this place from a colleague who lives and works in town. I was happy for the suggestion. It made my life :D

It’s a little forest dream β€” appreciate ALL your efforts! We felt that your thought of all our needs. We absolutely loved every detail of this place and the cabin (Orange Door). It's perfect for anyone drawn to minimalism and seeking a unique experience close to nature. The space has everything you need for a comfortable stay, just essentials, nothing more. Every element is thoughtfully designed and easy to use. Here's a breakdown of our experience in terms of comfort: 🌳 your communication is outstanding 🌳 cleanliness of the cabin is excellent πŸŒ³πŸ™ silence 🌳 vintage fan made us comfortable in Aug 🌳 kitchen & stove 🌳 even soda stream 🌳 fridge & freezer (we were traveling with ice packs, so we need it) 🌳 heavenly soft bed & pillows 🌳 bed sheets are getting my personal 5-stars 🌳 fascinating books & sofa 🌳 kettle & fire-roasted coffee from Atlin (locals) β€” fantastic taste, I want to order it home now 🌳 waste sorting 🌳 bluetooth speaker β€” omg, thanks for this 🌳 sauna, we loved it 🌳 free & nice parking β€” we assume that a little camera monitors it, so we felt save πŸ₯€ no laundry but it was not a big deal for us (we noticed there’s in-city laundry available) πŸ₯€ WiFi is a bit poor, which might be a concern if you’re working remotely P.S. You asked for suggestions for improvements, I’d recommend considering a showerhead with more adjustable settings. The single-mode option made me feel like I used more water than necessary while trying to get all the soap out :) Overall, we highly recommend this cozy retreat. We will come back. Your cabins inspired us, and we are missing already.

Wonderful stay for two! Our highlights: Cleanliness: Towels and bedding were fresh. The kitchen and bathroom were spotless on our arrival. Accuracy of description: All amenities listed on their website were present. Wifi was wicked fast, downloaded 3 podcasts in a couple minutes. Locally roasted coffee was delightful in the morning. Had everything we needed to cook a couple simple meals. After our first sauna visit, booked it right away for 3 more nights. Note that you won't be able to book the sauna via the website on the same day, but can always reach out to Laird via email and ask if it's available. Sauna timeslots provided were hourly between 5pm and 9pm. Value: Considering the location and the amenities during peak tourist season, we were satisfied with the pricing. Communication: Laird was responsive via email and anticipated our needs. He provided fresh towels halfway through our stay, and also let us know if we could start our sauna session early (if no one was booked before us). Arrival: Contactless check-in. Email sent beforehand with all the details we needed and we had no issues. Location: While there isn't much for walkable options, a car is a must anyway so we were happy with the quick drive to downtown Whitehorse and surrounding attractions (Miles Canyon, Winterlong Brewing, etc.). Whether you're staying for a couple nights or a week like we did, this place is worth a visit. Sustainably built and managed with a clear eye for design and details. Thank you Laird for a superb cabin stay!
