This is a basic amenity campground, just as they advertise. If you want a not-crowded, quiet, relaxing place to camp - this is it. Hiking trails all around, no highway noise, few airplanes, potable water, office that is open until 10 or so, and the discount to the Hot Springs is nice. Not having campfires after ten is also so others can sleep without getting choked out. Have you ever had your tent fill with someone else’s smoke? Try deal with that with kids, who have headaches and are almost retching, and then complain to me. This place is geared to people respecting the needs of others around them. The quiet, the space, the limited sites, the rules. To sit and actually hear the wind moving the trees, the trunks creaking, leaves rustling: it was lovely. All the campers even kept their dogs quiet. It was blissful. It was like tent camping in the middle of nowhere but with the safety of neighbours (and the few amenities). Yes, the tent sites could be more level, we were sliding downhill on our thermarests, however a slight grade is needed to keep water from pooling under your tent. Just not that much of a grade please. lol. When we stayed it rained half the days we were there. Bear in mind this is still a work in progress: the Hot Springs, the road in are all still being worked on. We found the price fair for the quality of the environment: enjoying “the outdoors”. We will always stay here when...
Read moreShort walking distance to hot springs. Showing your receipt for staying here gives you 20% off at the Hot Springs and 15% at the Wildlife Preserve. We booked a 30 amp pull-thru site for $35 which includes $10 for a reservation if you book ahead. We called ahead and reserved a site. They don’t have water or sani hookups at each site but still a great campground! ||For pull-thrus they have 4 50 amp sites, 20 30 amp pull-thru sites and 1 15 amp site. For back-in sites, they have 10 30 amp sites and 3 15 amp sites. They have 4 non- electric sites, 2 group sites and 12 tent sites. It is a pretty well-laid out site!||They had showers for $1 and public bathrooms. You could also purchase food from the office with many microwaveable options. Each site also had water and a picnic table. There were some trees which we used to hang a clothes line to dry some swim stuff and towels. They also have an Escape Room with 2 different room options which we didn’t have time to try, but it looked like fun! ||We did walk over and use the receipt to get a discount at the hot springs. It was also not too far from the wildlife preserve which we visited the next day and also used the receipt to get a discount there too. We’d...
Read moreThe two of us were looking for a place to stay near the hot springs. (We don’t camp and were looking for a hotel/AirB&B kind of place but we booked this location before they switched to the AirB&B platform so couldn’t write a review on AirB&B. ) We booked the lower suite and it was so much more than we expected. With the solarium and the large deck and kitchen, BBQ, and multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, it felt like we had booked an entire hotel to ourselves. There could have been 8 or 10 people accommodated, instead of just the two of us. The check in was seamless and the communication was friendly and helpful. The water is trucked in and at a premium so the measures in the shower for instance to limit over-use of water made perfect sense and still never made us feel rushed or unable to enjoy the shower. If the walk to the hot springs is 5 minutes it’s because we dawdled. The unit included one complimentary entry. We’ll write a separate review of the hot springs themselves but suffice it to say they are outstanding. There were quality hikes available without getting into the car. If the Air North flights had allowed we would immediately have rebooked this unit for January. A really...
