The Crowne Plaza Resort Changbaishan Hot Spring is in many respects unusual. It is one of the hotels on the foothills of the Changbaishan, and as far as I know, the hotel with the highest and most international standard. This does not mean that English is really spoken by the staff (in spite of what the website says). Be prepared to work with a smart phone and a good translation software. However, this is more than compensated for by the consistently friendly and accommodating behavior of the staff. This deserves special mention because it cannot be expected in China. But in our case it was, as stated, consistent: Staff really went out of their way to help or to fix problems. They were not always successful, but nevertheless they conveyed an atmosphere of friendliness and positive spirit, so that I still would like to give them 100 out of 100 points. Also and apart from that, the hotel makes a huge effort to present itself as a five star hotel. And it does so successfully. The premises play a pivotal role here. The hot spring part is breathtaking. There are approx. 30 different tubs, most of them wooden, in different sizes and temperatures between 35 and 45 degrees. You easily can spend a couple of hours there. The large hotel grounds allow for a longer stroll, including a large pet animal zoo which is nicely made but unfortunately does not allow for the pets to be petted. For children, this must be quite disappointing. But it still provides a nice diversion. Equally nice is the hotel terrace, which faces east and on which you can have soft and coffee drinks as well as light snacks. Because of its serene woodland surrounding, it is a peaceful spot. The rooms are spotless, well equipped and have a warm, woody feeling. The restaurants are unspectacular. The breakfast buffet is sumptuous and even has a decent selection of western foods, although but as is foreseeable, most of the food evolves around Chinese and Korean foods. There are no restaurant alternatives in the vicinity. In total, I would very much recommend this hotel for a short holiday in the woodlands, particularly if you...
Read more管家邹明and 小张, have been super responsible, patient and responsive. ReponsibleFew days before our stay into the hotel, they already started checking in with us about our itinery. With that, they took an initiative to arrange the tickets and transportation for us, from the moment we step into 长白山 till we left the hotel.PatienceWe are totally clueless that 长白山 doesnt have over the counter ticketing office till we about to step foot into 长白山. So for few days we were frantically trying to figure out how to buy the tickets online. Luckily, the 管家team patiently, with our broken chinese, guide us to getting the tickets.ResponsiveThe team doesnt seem to be sleeping. Over the past few days, from pre check- in to post check-in, i have been sending messages/enquiries at different timing outside of working hours (11pm, 12 +am, 5am, 7am), and surprisingly they managed to timely answer them.Overall...
Read moreI spent 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza while I was here on a snowboarding trip from Canada. Not only is the brand new hotel directly at the North Gate to Changbai Mountain, but it has an excellent staff, large and comfortable rooms (5 star for western standards) and a nice hot spring area on-site. The breakfast was very good and as a well travelled individual, I found this hotel to be the nicest hotel I’ve stayed in my 30 + times to this country. I can’t wait to come back.||The location is fairly isolated, but if you’ve come to enjoy the beauty of CBS then solitude and nature is what you’re after. ||My room featured a comfortable king sized bed, a lounger, a flawless view of Changbai Mountain and a washroom with separate tub and shower. My favourite detail was the USB wall plugs for charging all of my devices. Oh, and I highly recommend the beef noodle soup (ramen) in the...
