Club Med Changbaishan — Hotel in Baishan City

Interesting place. It can be an amazing place or mediocre depending the customer you are. It’s a great place for a family with children. Specifically around 5 year old kids. If you kids are 10 and over they will be bored. The entertainment is more very young kid oriented families. Staff is are very friendly. Almost to the point it’s annoying. But if you’re are a child it may be fun. There’s one incident where one of the staff wants to eat with us. We are just a couple. I feel it’s very awkward. He told my wife he is supposed to mingle with clients but I feel it was awkward. That’s an incident where staff is over stepping. Regarding the food. It’s 80% mediocre. At best you want the food warm. Some of things are ok. In terms of unlimited alcohol. Wow it’s just the bottom stuff and bad unless you pay a premium for what I regard as normal free stuff I would get at an airport lounge. Regarding skiing, the public facility and rental is modern and good. We checked them out to compare with club med. of course more exclusive to be in the club med skiing facility but it doesn’t offer more than the public one. Regarding the skiing. It’s very beginner friendly = intermediate or expert not friendly. The faster slope got really boring after riding it all day. It’s short as well. As one staff say it’s just built on a slope and not a mountain. So don’t come for that alone unless you are learning. Regarding the free classes. Always a plus. This is their advantage as a hotel. Some instructors are good. Some bad according to wife. Meaning good one will instruct individuals on what they need to work on. I can imagine this place is perfect for families with very young kids. Was disappointed with Clubmed. ||All activities including drinks all ends at 10.30pm. there is no supper provided. The last meal we had was dinner. For the expensive price we paid , its totally not worth it. Compared to my last few experiences with club med, this is the worst. i wil not come back again. No stage performance, only kept asking children to do stage performance. we were there for 5 days. min stay is 5days. Foods at buffet was limited, cakes and dessert are not top up. only 1 day we had seafood like alaska crab, oysters and abalone. A 1 time serving of garlic lobster. Though the staff was nice (except the photo shop staff) they are short of manpower, their childcare service can closed anytime they want. claiming that they need to help out at other events. Their activities are the same everyday , make keychains, next day make cards.. so boring. even the kids says so. ||The ski rental for equipment and clothes are not included. They brought us to the ski shop where the prices were so much higher. Their ski rental shop doesnt rent out goggle,only can rent. |Asked the staff if there are other options they said not sure. When they clearly knows next door is much cheaper at 1/3 of the price. It’s a smaller Club Med but because of that it’s very cozy and everyone knows you. We had excellent help and service from Nova when my husband fell sick during our stay and she assisted us unconditionally. She even helped us with posting the USB drive of Club Med photos purchased when it couldn’t be done in time before we left. Really appreciated her hospitality!||Slopes at Changbaishan are also gentle and wide which is excellent for beginners and my children picked up skiing so quickly there.
