I stayed in this hotel twice on my recent visit to China. The first time for a week when I was attending a conference at the China National Conference Center, and the second a week later when I was returning to Canada. I chose the hotel strictly on price, and on the previous reviews.||||The beds were the best I encountered in China. Not that that is great, but with actual mattresses in stead of the usual board with thin padding. Overall, the hotel was quite clean, especially in the main areas and in the rooms that had been freshened since the conversion from Best Western. My first room had not, and the carpets were quite grubby, but the second, where it seemed the carpet had been replaced, was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very good, but rather expensive, since it was not included in the price of my room. The restaurant for lunch and dinner was very good, with lots of regional specialties well prepared.||||The front desk staff were very cheerful and friendly, and it was always possible to find at least one who spoke English.||||Although the location is a bit out of the way for the major tourist attractions in the city, it is right at a subway station (Beishatan, on line 15) and so is handy to just about anywhere at 3RMB a trip.||||My second stay there was booked by my hosts, based on my earlier experience. I was pleased, and would stay there again on my...
Read moreLocation is great. ||Positives: Breakfast is included. Good variety of Chinese food and some western style food. ||Currency exchange in the front desk. ||Room is nice. ||Negatives for me: Difficulty in communications. One few of the front desk staff spoke spoke English. Official business stay Nov 2, 3, 4 nights (Rm 1904) and then Nov 7 and 8th night (Rm 1909). Air conditioning in the room did not work. Complained and was not able to communicate. Finally one person said they will send someone and he did not speak English but brought a small desk top electrical fan . Managed on both occasion with the fan in the hot room. Not much sleep. ||When I mentioned about the AC not working to the front desk, they could not answer and brought an English speaking (?) asst manager who was not friendly. Did not get much out of him. ||I did find stains on the bed cover (Rm 1909) ||Through my host enquirers, I found out that they shut down A/C. After 37 yrs living in USA , A/C has become a...
Read moreI stayed here on a business trip with my partner. I asked for a double room but was given a twin and the staff at reception claimed that they didn't have a double available in the whole of the hotel and made no effort to apologise, which was rather disappointing. The surrounding area is nothing special but the Metro station is very close so it is fairly convenient to get around. In the hotel itself, the rooms were spacious enough with adequate facilities. The bathroom smelled though, we had to leave the extractor fan on constantly to try to stop it being unbearable. The cleaning staff also don't respect the do not disturb sign. The breakfast is pretty good though with plenty of choices to suit a Western and Chinese diet. WiFi was good in my room but my colleagues on the higher floors struggled. All together a decent basic hotel that isn't going to blow your mind and with room for...
