A Perfect Stay at The Great Wall Box House

My stay at The Great Wall Box House was nothing short of amazing. The decor is charming, and welcoming, and the beds were wonderfully soft and comfortable. I especially appreciated the thoughtful touches, like the heated toilet seat, plush robes, and the cozy enclosed courtyard, which created a perfect space to relax and connect with fellow travelers over stories and travel tips.

The heart and soul of this hotel is undoubtedly the owner, Xiăo Wei, who seems to manage everything on her own. She is so kind and helpful. The hotel is very clean, and well kept, and she is an incredible chef! The moment I heard she was in the kitchen, I couldn't wait to try her dishes—and they did not disappoint. Every meal she prepared was delicious.

And then, of course, there are the cats! The three resident kitties are sweet, friendly, and always around to offer affection, making the experience even more special.

Saying goodbye to The Great Wall Box House, Xiăo Wei, and those adorable cats was harder than I imagined. I’ll always remember this special experience and look forward to...

The two nights I spent here were the highlight of my 6 week trip in China.

The owner is an extremely nice person. He will make your stay as comfortable as he possibly can.

The hotel is located extremely close to the Gubeikou Great Wall. The owner and other guests (who are most likely there to hike) will help you with tips on where to go and how to prepare for your hike on the Great Wall.

Food is also provided in the hotel and the menu had plenty of dishes to choose from. Cold drinks are available as well.

What was most memorable to me was the Tea Ceremony. The other guests and the owner sat down together and tasted different kinds of tea. The owner told us all some background information. We all felt connected during that moment, even though we had just met each other.

Coming back from our hikes, the different guests sat together in the common room and shared our experiences. It felt like we had known each other longer than just one day.

No other hostel or hotel gave me this amazing feeling. I will definitely return in a few years and hope to meet another set of...

Loved this place, is amazing. This was my highlight for my Asia trip. The place is a comfy little house, its clean and quiet, the host is a lovely Chinese lady who cooks the best comfort food we had. Shen helps you getting around with clear information, we did the Jinshanling hike which takes like 7 hrs with 2 dutch girls we met here, the hike was epic from the beginning to the end, this us by far the best way to see the Great Wall.
