Entire ninth floor smells like cigarettes. Carpets are nasty. Rooms are constantly moist despite constantly running the air conditioner. Temperature in the room rarely gets to the temperature you set. WiFi doesn't work 90% of the time, and when it does, it's dialup speeds. The walls are paper thin and you can hear the light switches clicking in the next room and every word spoken in the hallway. Room service will hang up on you if you don't speak Chinese. Maids walk in on you without knocking. Food served in the restaurant is bland and unappealing and breakfast constantly runs out of stuff (food, juice, utensils). The room keys will inexplicably stop working and you have to go to the front desk for a fix. While I stayed there, they shut off the hot water for maintenance for a day and one elevator stopped working. It's not near any good shopping or restaurants. I asked the concierge for help and he just apologized and said "I don't know" and I asked if there was someone who spoke English and he simply repeated "I don't know I don't know I don't know" until I finally walked away. There is no reason to stay at...
Read moreWe stayed at the Schonbrunn Hotel for 4 nights as part of a tripadeal deal.We found that were on the go a lot with the deal so spent minimal time in our room. The bed was as hard as a rock but after the long days it didn’t matter much.Beds and bathrooms were clean.Rooms could do with a revamp there a little tired. As for breakfast WELL there isn’t to much to rave about! Take your own jam/vegemite to butter your if your lucky toast. It is what it is but cauliflower for breakfast isn’t my thing. The first morning there was our tour in but the following mornings there were at least 3 tours staying there.Theres a small shop in the Lobby for supplies and cold beers. It was so hot in Beijing. The beers in China were amazing and I’m not a beer drinker. No lobby bars but second level has some chairs to enjoy your beers.Enjoy your trip we did but keep in mind it’s hot very hot in...
Read moreI have to rate this based on the hotels overseas, not the US based. It is a big clean hotel, with a beautiful façade and lobby. Rooms need a major overhaul, spruce up, as the rugs, walls beds, are sorely dated. Rugs are dirty, as are bathrooms. Some have mold, but again you are in Beijing, not New York, where this place would not be acceptable.||They have two restaurants, a high end Asian, and a moderate one, where they serve the breakfast buffet - which is very good.||We tried it for dinner, and it literally took two hours for them to produce rice, and a couple of dishes. It was reasonable, but service was awful.||People in the hotel tend to be very cold, and not helpful, similar to other parts of Beijing. Not really high on...
