It depends on your purpose. If you have business, family, or other things to do near this hotel, then it could work, especially as compared to the other choices nearby, but I would not come to Beijing to specially stay at this hotel. I would rate the hotel between poor and average, and here's why:||||Importantly I note that for English speakers who know no to a limited amount of Mandarin it would be a tough hotel to stay at. There's only one or two staff who know a small amount of English.||||General Hotel Room and Maintenance: Carpets need to be redone, light fixtures need to be properly put into their holders, paint (chips of paint, cracks in ceiling and wall); there's also no gym, which is a must have in today's world!||||Unaccommodating Staff: unable to work out corporate details for large number of nights, aren't very helpful when asking questions, can't go beyond or exceptions for special occasions (e.g. basic room but you would like coffee instead of tea, but you're spending a lot of nights there), and room service stops pretty early before 10pm! Hotel restaurants close at 9pm!||||Times: The hotel services don't open and occur when posted (e.g. business center/concierge 8am-8pm - not there often times in business hours); meals most the buffet isn't on the line until 1/2 hour or 1 hour after the meal time starts.||||Tips and Suggestions: ||1. You certainly want to be placed in the main building. If they place you in another building you'll get less service. The receptionists and other staff are in the main building. If you are forced to another building, I'd suggest the courtyard building rather than the business looking building (more recently updated).||||2. Only stay at this hotel if it is convenient for your purpose. There are plenty of better hotels to stay in Beijing!||||3. If you need/want something special be prepared to argue and flight it when the staff tells you no (e.g. more complementary water or some other request)||||All of these comments said, the breakfast and lunch buffets are very cheap so take advantage - 15 rmb for breakfast, but oddly there's no juice or...

The rooms in that bloc were dirty and they smelt of mould! We asked to move rooms and we were given rooms in the bloc on the left to the hotel. The rooms in the 6th and 7th floor only, were a bit better. They still smelt of cigarettes, though. However, there is not much one can do about that, since the Chinese are allowed to smoke in the rooms, and they really do smoke a lot! The Chinese next to my room would even keep the door of their bedroom open, presumably not to suffocate with cigarette smoke! ||||Some other people in my group were allocated the rooms in the bloc on the right of the main bloc. These rooms are truly dreadful. Very cold rooms. They even hang a duvet at the door of the rooms, but you still get a lot of draught! One of the rooms had a hole in the bathroom ceiling and they just put some tape on the hole to fix the problem!||||The staff at the reception did not speak any English so we had to use Google translator to commutate with them. They were not helpful at all!||||The rooms have leaflets promoting massage in the hotel. Do not use them! Unfortunately I went for a massage and I came out worst than before the massage. They do not know how to do massage.||||Breakfast was ok. More catered for the Chinese than for Western people.||||Overall, not a good experience and I would not recommend this...
Read moreIt's just as well I speak a little mandarin, because this place genuinely has no staff capable of stringing together a coherent English sentence. They called me at 7.30 am, the day after our arrival (so we were very tired and jet lagged, and annoyed at being woken). The woman didn't apologise, but just kept talking, despite my efforts to slow her down and speak plain Chinese (or English). In the end I just stopped her and said it was 7.30 am and we are tired and please go away ! turned out they had the wrong room, I guess all foreigners look alike to them... Very unprofessional. The hotel is close to Capital Normal university and Huayuanqiao metro stop on line 6. So only about 25 mins into the centre. There were some quite nice restaurants immediately across the Rd which were navigatable for foreigners, we had some excellent beef noodles and mian bao, there was also a duck restaurant directly next door, but we didn't try it. The rooms are a bit aged, our bathroom smelt of mould and needed a good clean. Beds were quite hard, but comfortable, wifi was adequate, a little slow, but useable. There was a fridge and a TV, and an armchair, ac didn't seem to work, though it was winter. There were workmen directly outside our window working the whole time we were there, they were trying to be discrete, but basically started work at 8.30 every morning, and woke us. Apart from that, the price reflects the hotel quite well, if they had some English-speaking staff I'd...
