So... This is the best hotel in Changchun. There seems to be no doubt about that. The suite was great, and so were the rooms. High ceilings, very good beds and in-room facilities. Great view of the city. Next to a brand new, high-end mall (with nice restaurants, designers etc). The place (especially the rooms) is a bit patched and definitely needs refurbishment.||And then there is the service... Well... Here are a few examples:||- You sit in the upper lounge (of the suites), with a great view, and order fries and a salad. What arrives is these horrible unmixed ingredients, cut into chunks, on a flat plate, with the most acidic "balsamic" vinegar (Italians will kill themselves twice before touching it) in olive oil. Horrible dish. Then the over-fried (of the frozen kind) fries arrive - with no ketchup. It took them 25 minutes to bring the ketchup, and you can guess how the fries looked by then. The replacement order took another 20 min (again, over-fried with some black areas, of course). And this is how our stay began...||- The room key stopped working after a few days. Called from the floor phone to get a replacement (it's freezing outside, and you just want to go in), and the girl on the other side started arguing with me (???). What a bizarre experience. Two more days passed - and another key stopped working...||- The huge, varied breakfast buffet (one of the biggest ones I've seen - and I've been to too many hotels to remember) probably has something for almost everyone (even vegans like me), but what's very easy to notice it the poor quality of all the ingredients in almost every dish. Perhaps sometimes less is more.||- If you are a vegan, do not believe the room service menu. They have no idea what vegan is, and most of the "vegan" dishes are not vegan at all.||- One day, they just forgot to make up our room, although we specifically asked them to before we went out for the whole day. Then, in the evening, they slipped a note under our door saying they tried to do it, but we were in (not true).||- We asked for extra pillows. Just the regular ones. I was blown away by the answer: "We have no more pillows"... This is the most expensive hotel in the city, and they do not have extra pillows. The same thing happened when we asked for large towels, that they didn't change in the room - they didn't have any...||You get the gist of things. ||So, a good hotel with serious service management issues. I hope they will fix these issues sometime soon, as I'm supposed to return to the...
Read moreMay 16, 2016 My appreciation to the staff of Hyatt Regency, Changchun. My first visit to China and my first visit to Changchun was a memorable experience due to the excellent staff at the front desk of the Hyatt Regency and the people at both restaurants and lounge. From my first encounter with Eric who gave me a warm welcome to Changchun and information even before I chose to register; Becky, a manager who took the time to explain the benefits and facilities of the Hyatt; Robin the concierge who helped plan my day; and a charming young man Mark who always made himself available to attend to my needs from booking taxis to helping me find cultural attractions and providing the necessary Chinese translations. In addition, Jonny, a manager of the Chinese restaurant taught me how to eat the chef’s signature dish of duck properly. These are just a few of the service staff of the Hyatt Regency which should be recognized for their efficiency. The Hyatt Regency has selected an outstanding, dedicated and competent staff. Well done! I would highly recommend the Hyatt Regency in Changchun for its excellent location and service. Ada...
Read moreMy wife and I enjoyed staying in this hotel very much. Room is spacious, modern, clean and nicely equipped. MTR is just at the hotel doorway which makes in town travel extremely convenient. Breakfast food is plentiful. Staff are friendly, polite and forthcoming. Special thanks is given to Erik, the hotel’s room director. Despite his busy schedule, he always spares time to stay in the reception area to meet hotel guests. He is very helpful and resourceful, always stand ready to offer help and even travel advice. We told him our room was a bit hot due to the heated air conditioning and before long, he solved our problem by arranging one of our small windows to open for fresh air. We said we would take high speed train to leave the city at 2:30pm 2 days after and he immediately offered to extend our checkout time to 1pm. He also advised us to take MTR to go to the high speed train station instead of taking a taxi. We took his advice when checked out and the trip really turned out to be more...
