I am currently staying at the Grand Hyatt Changsha as a World of Hyatt elite member and was very disappointed with the way this property manages elite benefits compared to other Hyatt hotels worldwide.||The members’ lounge is only open for half the day, which makes it far less useful than at other Hyatt properties where the lounge provides all-day access for relaxation, business, and refreshments. Even more surprising, elite members are not given the option to have breakfast in the lounge at all, but are instead directed to the main restaurant. The restaurant downstairs is very crowded (they usually have a lot of groups) and very dark as there is no windows. It’s more like cafeteria ambiance. This defeats the purpose of having an exclusive lounge benefit and undermines the value of Hyatt’s loyalty program.||As someone who chooses Hyatt specifically for its consistent recognition of elite members, this was disappointing and not up to the standards expected of the Grand Hyatt brand. I hope Hyatt management will review these policies and bring the property in line with the global standards that loyal members rely on.||Until then, travelers who value full lounge benefits may want to temper expectations when staying at this property.||PS: I have stayed here many times before and the service is otherwise great but this new policy greatly reduces the appeal of this property. ||My suggestion is to stay away until they correct this. There is a Park Hyatt nearby. If the lounge access in Grand Hyatt is restricted then you might as well stay at the Park Hyatt or one of the numerous Marriott properties available in Changsha which have great lounge...
Read moreFantastic, simply Fantastic. We were here around 22 -24 of June 2025 and we were on the 56th floor and I casually drew the curtains in the morning and what caught me was WOW - simply Amazing, there was a river and an island in that river. what made that particular day Amazing was the perfect blend of cloud and sunshine on that day where the sun was not too harsh because of the clouds in the sky. What I saw took me back to a discussion that I had with a colleague of mine who explained the poem "Le Pont Mirabeau" to me. The breakfast is another highlight that needs attention, this is especially for people who come from the US or Europe, for $12 there was like a huge spread at least a hundred items. I spent forty minutes trying out each one and every thing I tried was just great, the eggs are actually cage free and the yolk was actually orange in color - I should mention this, as I have often come across low grade eggs in very expensive hotel breakfast buffet. If you are staying at this place don't miss the breakfast, its just wow. The hair dryer was a Dyson fan-less hair dryer - not those loud hair dryers you often find, and the bathtub is strategically arranged in such a way that you could soak yourself in the tub with a glass of wine in hand looking over the river and boats going by. And yes, if you happen to stay here don't miss the night market that is right next to this place - if you are a foodie you will love the food...
Read moreThe check-in process was satisfactory; I was assigned to the 61st floor, the highest room available at the Grand Hyatt Changsha. However, upon entering the room, I noticed stains and dust on the bedside table, sink, bathroom, and dressing room floor windows. Additionally, there was a piece of iron shaped like the letter "R" on the carpet, which I am certain was neither from the hotel nor myself, but likely from the previous occupant. When I brought this to the attention of room service, it took over thirty minutes for someone to respond. When I requested to have the cleaning crew re-clean the room, they offered to "upgrade" me to a different room type on the 57th floor, which I accepted. However, when I entered the new room, I found it was virtually the same except for the placement of the cupboards and sofas. Moreover, the Dyson hairdryer and smart toilet in the first room had been replaced with a generic hairdryer and an old-fashioned toilet. Finally, when I collected my luggage while checking out, the hotel staff invited me to leave a positive review of the Grand Hyatt Changsha on Trip.com, where I booked my room, in exchange for a set of L'Occitane toiletries. While it is understandable to seek positive reviews, I suggest that the most sustainable way for Grand Hyatt Changsha to achieve this is by improving the hotel's hygiene and...
