Chaozhou Hotel — Hotel in Chaozhou

We book for this hotel, but we are later place at across the street building, Yes, literally across the MAIN street and further down 500m away from this hotel building.||||When we reach the other side of the street and into this dirty shoplots it was just a shop converted hotel with a lift & a narrow lobby with one reception handle the desk.||||We are so cheated ! The publish rated of this so call "hotel" is only 1/3 of the main building hotel, because the rate is showed at the wall.||||We argue, but its pointless because is the the Great People of China, there is no such thing as complaint channel, because it does not exist. However to comfort reader of my comment, the hotel does agree to honor their breakfast and give me the coupon to walk over back to the main building tomorrow to enjoy the breakfast.||||After register, we go up to the room, thanks god, the room is clean new and comfortable, what a relief..||||Water pressure is good, room temperature control is excellent too as the air cond is brand new, so is the bed and sheets etc...||||There is plenti store around this place or back across the main hotel, need not worry for restocking fluid or food.||||Next morning drama begin, the coupon we received only deserve us to use the room :C: for breakfast, where you sit down and they serve u some white porride, an egg, a bun , plain white water, and green vege. NO MORE... lol||||but Room :A: & :B: offer much more because is buffet setting, and I counted is more than 15 trays of variety... guess what, DONT argue, because we are in China.... :P||||My recommendation, dont book China hotel from internet, because they are not real people doing real business. ||||You get better deal if you walk in and WYSISYG, you will be way...

I have been staying in this hotel for my yearly Chaozhou trips for more than 12 years and wrote a review a few years ago.||Over the years, since my last review, changes have taken place, some good, some not so good.||The rooms were redecorated a few years ago and this is definitely an improvement and some of the cigarette smoke-impregnated furnishings were renewed. This year I noticed that there seemed to be less smoke fumes coming through the air conditioning vents than previously - for which I was truly thankful. Also, this year the hotel seemed quieter (thankfully) without the usual noisy guests chattering and smoking in the hallways late at night.||The hotel no longer has a western restaurant so breakfast options don’t suit my tastes, therefore I take my own muesli, cereal bowl, spoon and long life milk with me and eat breakfast in my room 😁||Easy to walk to western style restaurants from the hotel- 20min walk. Pizza Hut, KFC McDonalds etc. ||We discovered a great restaurant called LAVA this time too, I will write a separate review...

This hotel is located fairly centrally in the city. It is about 1km to Xihu ((West lake) and 2km to the old city and Guangji bridge. If you feel that’s too far to walk, there are always tricycle rickshaw men hanging around the entrance. ||||If you’re here for the local cuisine, it has to be said that the tourist street (Taiping Road) is very commercialised, although not busy midweek. There are several local restaurants just across the street from the hotel which are far cheaper, and far more convenient and genuine.||||The hotel breakfast is fine, although mainly for the Chinese palate. You can get toast (although the “jam” and “butter” leave a lot to be desired). The room we were in was very comfortable and quiet.
