Vienna Hotel — Hotel in Chaozhou

We stayed 3 nights in August 2019 as we were visiting relatives who live nearby. Plus points - the hotel is well located, with a 24hour convenience store in the building, is clean, new (opened 2018) and staff are friendly and helpful. There are several restaurants near the hotel, and a 10 min walk down the main street are more eateries, shops and a mall with a well-stocked supermarket. We paid SGD74 for a deluxe suite, and the staff was happy to throw in breakfast when we enquired, which we didn't make use of. Minus points - guests smoke in the one and only lift, lobby and rooms, and being sensitive to nicotine it was quite unbearable for me. The toilet clogged late at night on our first use, but that was promptly attended to. The trick, we learnt, was to flush constantly as the plumbing seemed to be able to handle very small amounts of solids at a time. Though Vienna is considered one of the highest-rated hotel in this rural area, it is at best a 3-star property, but the staff deserve 4-stars for their enthusiasm and helpfulness.
