I was in Chengdu on a business trip back in Oct and the budget was tight (Client wasn't very kind to us at the traveling arrangement). With limited budget, 2 of use choose to stay at the ibis, hoping that atleast this is an international brand and that it would live up to its standard. How could I be so naive to believe any Accord property in China would live up to international standard, especially after my absolutely ridiculous experience in ibis Dalian recently, but well, here I am sampling the great hospitality of ibis China have to offer.||||Location:||||Is hard to get any worse than this. It is not within walking distance to anywhere meaningful or usually people would go to, no where close to Public Transportation (Both Subway or Bus), terrible location to find a taxi, good luck finding anything to eat at night. It is practically located in the middle of nowhere within the city, how can that happen? I don't know. ||||To give you a better idea, this place is min 15-20mins taxi ride away from major shopping area, almost an hour from Panda Research Base and atleast 10mins taxi ride away from the closest subway station.||||Security:||||I didn't came across anything that would compromise my safety during my stay. As usual, ibis doesn't have a in room safe and the door card lock at the elevator doesn't work.||||Services:||||Poor. The check-in staff looked like she was day dreaming or half asleep. Her ultra slow motion effort took us 35mins to complete the entire check-in process! And she obviously have no idea what she's doing because she was asking someone else every other minute and the other staff and stood there talking on her phone instead of helping this new staff. When we ask is breakfast included (as it should be because I'm Accor Platinum Member), she told me it is, only to our surprise at check out that they bill us for our every breakfast during the 4 days stay, WHAT?!||||The hotel has a car park for the guests and there is a big read sign in front of the security post that reads "Free Parking for hotel guests" in Chinese. One morning we hired a car with driver to pick us up as we're going 2hrs out of town for a meeting, when we were trying to leave, the security came u to us and ask us RMB5 for parking fee. I point at the sign and he said that is not valid anymore, accord group, you never failed to amaze me in China.||||Rooms:||||Standard ibis China room that looks like every other ibis in China. Nothing special but it sure serves it purpose. It is clean, well designed and comfortable. ||||Hotel Facilities and Dinning:||||There is a car park that I do not know charges or not, a small business center at the lobby and a onsite travel service counter, that's about it for facilities.||||If your breakfast is NOT included, do not eat here. Cause you're basically paying RMB30 for rubbish, it taste worse than rubbish. ||||Bottom Line:||||If you're only gonna be here for a night or two and is on a tight budget, this place provides you with a clean bed and a quite room. Look elsewhere if you demand anything above...
ย ย ย Read moreThe hotel rooms are small, but still bigger than some other Chinese budget hotel groups. Most importantly, the hotel rooms are clean. (Ask for a non-smoking room if you don't want smokey linen!). The rooms have a desk, wardrobe, queen bed, electrical plugs, hairdryer and all other expected amenities. ||The common areas are fantastic, breakfast is served at 20RMB per person for a buffet. Although catering mostly for Chinese diners, they have an array of fruit juices, toast, eggs and even coffee, which is a treat for a Chinese hotel. ||In the lobby they have a lounging area, a pool table, a bar and shop area, some vending machines and a tour centre. ||All in all I am very happy with my choice in hotel. Although public transport is a bit of a distance away, there are many taxis outside the hotel. Once you arrive here, there are business cards with the Chinese address. This definitely makes life easier. Even if you can speak mandarin, the dialect here is a bit peculiar, so best to be prepared. ||The hotel also offers luggage storage which...

They were quite helpful, they helped with arranging taxi and interpreting when we needed to buy a tour. |Cleanliness: ok, nothing to complain|Staff attentiveness: hope they can improve this. |One shortcoming: one parcel was sent to the hotel for me in the morning; but in the afternoon, i asked Receptionist then he said No, then 11pm I asked Receptionist then he said No, until my colleague begged him to check, he found that parcel. |Overall, if you only need a place for a quick stopover, this...
