Stay in September 2025 – Three Nights at Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain We spent three nights at Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain in September 2025. As this was our first stay at a Six Senses resort, our expectations were accordingly high. The resort itself is spaciously laid out and beautifully nestled within the surrounding landscape. However, many parts of the property show visible signs of aging. Paintwork has faded, and wooden surfaces are weathered – a renovation seems necessary to bring the resort back in line with the standards suggested by its online images and marketing. Our room was spacious and clean. The small panda plush toys left as a welcome gift were a charming touch. Unfortunately, the air conditioning was very disruptive at night, switching on and off every couple of minutes. During turndown service, used towels placed on the floor were not replaced – something that should not happen in a property of this category. Overall, service throughout the resort only partially lived up to the expectations of a five-star hotel. One notable exception was the team at the Thai restaurant, who were attentive, warm, and professional. In contrast, the outdoor pool area lacked any kind of service: guests had to fetch towels themselves, and even basic amenities like water or mosquito repellent – which was clearly needed – were not available, even upon request. Breakfast offered a good selection of international and Chinese dishes. However, the staff in the breakfast area were often inattentive, despite not appearing particularly busy. The coffee was consistently weak and watery, and tea was served in a single large mug. Given the significance of tea culture in China, we had expected a more thoughtful and refined presentation. At check-out, no one inquired about our stay or wished us a pleasant onward journey. Upon request, we were at least given a bottle of water for the trip to the airport. In general, the team gave the impression of focusing more on quick guest turnover rather than delivering a holistic five-star experience. Our conclusion: The resort has great potential and is located in a beautiful setting. However, the current standard does not meet what we expect from Six Senses or a true five-star property. We sincerely hope this experience is not representative of the brand as a whole – our upcoming stay at Six Senses Koh Samui later this year will be a chance to see whether the chain can still live up to...
Read moreThe Six Senses brand has always been the first class of resorts & that’s certainly the case here. Our experience at Qing Cheng Mountain was outstanding. Prior to arrival we were contacted to confirm our preferences (thank you to the amazing Vanilla) & at check in we were offered the personal services of one of the resorts best (the delightful Sofia, intuitive, warm & kind). Both ladies continued to oversee our stay to ensure that we had everything we required plus so much more. In addition, every staff member we encountered during our three days at the property smiled, waved & often greeted us by name. We felt so welcome.
The property itself exceeded my expectations. From the lush manicured grounds to the outstanding restaurants (the Thai was my favourite) & the gorgeous Moon Bar with live music & amazing cocktails (ask James for his jasmine creation!). And then The Spa, oh wow! Set in a tranquil, chilled space around a pond, the treatment rooms are little cocoons of decadence. Every detail was confirmed for my preference (music volume, room temperature, pillows) & then the most divine facial I have ever experienced.
Our room was another highlight. With a super-sized king bed, tv, coffee machine & sitting area in one room, a seperate sitting area in the lobby, a dressing room opening onto the bathroom with a huge stone bath overlooking a private courtyard AND another sitting area on the front balcony…. it was larger than most apartments! We received fruit platters & treats every day, copious quantities of fresh water & a constant supply of information about the local area. I particularly loved the luxurious products in the bathroom.
One very important thing to mention, from SSQCM there are so many beautiful things to explore but we only had time for one - a visit to see the pandas. We volunteered, cleaned, prepared food & watched them eat, play & sleep. Vanilla tailored our itinerary to suit & accompanied us to make sure everything went smoothly. Every tiny detail was covered. It was a magic day
SSQCM represents the Six Senses brand perfectly while still retaining the warmth of the local environment. Our stay was magnificent & it was so hard to say goodbye but we will return to explore all the things we missed this time around.
Thank you Sofia & Vanilla & the entire team. You are the best...
Read moreAs a frequent traveller, it takes a great deal for any hotel to impress me. Six Senses Qing Cheng Mountain absolutely hits the mark. The property is beautifully designed and maintained, blending well with the natural environment. The suites and villas are furnished in understated elegance. I interacted with many of the staff and they were all very friendly and helpful. There is electric cart service that can take guests from one part of the hotel to another. But my suggestion is to explore on foot. You can enjoy fresh mountain air while listening to birds chirping almost all day. You will find beautifully landscaped gardens with water features everywhere. I found myself just naturally taking deeper breaths and slowing down to enjoy the moment.||The hotel spa offers an extensive list of treatments. I truly enjoyed my experience there. When it comes to Food and Beverage, the hotel offers a number of dining options. I would like to especially highlight the Chinese restaurant where I had the best Mapo Tofu ever. The true test of a Sichuan Cuisine chef is in his/her ability to prepare this dish. And the chef here scored a 10+ with me. Their double-boiled chicken soup with gingko nuts is also outstanding. The hotel brings to live the farm to table concept with their own vegetable gardens on site. I visited the Moon Bar on my last night where I enjoyed great live music and cocktails. The musicians did a great job accommodating my requests for a few of my favorite Eric Clapton and Bryan Adams tunes. ||This is a great base to visit a number of important must-visit sites which this part of Sichuan...
