Overall an excellent hotel with a special interior style, spacious rooms, great service, friendly staff and good access by car and subway. Located in a new business area about 20 minutes from down town Chengdu with easy access to the subway. Good location if you are visiting companies in this part of the city or for leisure do not mind to use taxi or subway to get to the old town sights. The hotel has a lobby and restaurants on the 50nd floor which means you first take an elevator up to the lobby and then another elevator down to your room. Exterior of the hotel is very modern and the interior is decorated in the classic art deco style of the era that the original Waldorf Astoria was built in. I still need to get used to this and admire the amount of attention to detail that has gone into modeling this interior and like the spacious set up and the beautiful material used. Rooms are very large and also feel that way. Bathroom has a walk in rain shower a full sized bath and a Japanese technology toilet with so many features that this alone will be a reason for me to come back to this hotel on a next visit. Water pressure is good and reaches the right temperature quickly, there is a TV with a waterproof RC located at the foot end of the bath. There are two wash basins and a walk in closet with quite a lot of storage space next to the bathroom. The King beds are large and comfortable, one side of the bed has an iPhone lightning connector docking station alarm clock and the buttons for opening and closing the curtains, both sides of the bed have power outlets that fit UK, EU, US and Chinese plugs so you do not need to bring an adaptor along to charge your phone and buttons to control the different mood lighting patterns for the room. There is a desk which has USB, HDMI ports and 2 universal power outlets. On the other side of the room is large chaise longue with a small table and a view of the city. The room has a Nespresso coffee machine a water cooker and a full sized tea pot for coffee and tea making. The minibar is stocked with the usual drinks but also contains full sized bottles of wine. Other amenities include shoetrees, luxury bath robes a large TV and excellent sound proofing. Only thing I could not find was an iron and ironing board. Rooms are beautifully appointed in art deco style with luxury materials used are in very good maintenance condition. The hotel has a 25 meter indoor swimming pool on the 48th floor with a small Jacuzzi, as always in China you need to wear a swimming cap which the sell at the pool reception. There is also a sauna (men and women separated) and quite a large fitness area with the usual hotel fitness machines. The breakfast buffet served in the Brasserie 99 is good with western and local specialties, I really liked the fresh fruit juices in small bottles. There is a make to order egg station and a good selection of breads and Danish. Muesli and Granola is something that has not yet caught on in China but they do have Bircher and a nice selection of yoghurts. There is enough seating and the buffet area is spacious. Staff are very friendly and there is lots of staff around, I liked the fact that they pro-actively come to you when you walk towards them and most speak English quite well. Hotel has free (China firewall) Wi-Fi for guests and in...
