Chongqing Jinjiang Oriental Hotel — Hotel in Chongqing

I was on a UK Foreign office trade mission in China, and up to this point had nothing but praise for the hotels we stayed in. All were international hotels in every aspect, from multiple power sockets seemingly covering every global plug type to English speaking staff, fantastic service levels and spotlessly clean rooms and facilities.||||At this hotel check in was very painful, no English speaking staff available and no English speaking staff in the bar. Luckily I can order a beer in Mandarin but that's about my current limit. ||||My room felt fusty, it was extremely hot and the aircon was less effective than leaving the minibar fridge open. My room also felt dated and less than spotless, in fact I had reservations about staying in it but I was very tired and couldn't face the idea of asking for another room using sign language.||||Left in the...

This hotel is average at all levels: checking in very slow and long process, room amenities old and average quality. Towels are very old and over used. The lighting in the room is very disturbing at night as the control panel is complicated and one button activates many lights. |The automatic light sensor in the bathroom takes long time to turn off and if turned off manually then other lights of the room turn on !|The breakfast is poor, not a lot of selection available. Stayed for 2 nights. Room size good and facilities in room fine. Think this is first time where the coffee is without sugar and milk in local hotel. One thing that does loose one star for the hotel is that when i checked in there were peanuts on the floor (still thee when i left) and old slippers under the bed. All in all witness of the lack of cleaning. |In the hotel there is no wine only beer and some hard liquer. Even gin was out of stock. |The Hong Kong restaurant was good and breakfast good choises even for westerner.
