Chongqing Yuelai Wyndham Hotel — Hotel in Chongqing

Staff is what the management makes of them. ||Hotel is pleasantly located next to the new convention/exhibition center and therefore benefits a captive clientele when events are held there.||Thereforw it seems that management is happy not to give the proper training to its staff.||Check in /out counter English is extremely hazardous and I am kind saying that, and there training shows still a long way to go. ||Not even able to settle properly a deposit and remote a cancellation of the deposit made.||If you really want to enjoy the worst coffee shop I have seen and tried in a 5 stars hotel, I strongly recommend you to try it.||Nasi Goreng, will be served with almost cold rice, sunny side up more or less cooked and covered with oil, satay is served after being cooked I wonder how many times as the meat was stuck to the wood. Impossible to remove it.||After asking to have the dish replaced, I was served the same almost cold rice same horrible egg, and got this time 2 satay! pink color, hardly cooked, I tasted one piece of meat impossible to say if tat was chicken or any other animal. I preferred avoiding eating it. Veggies served with the Nasi Goreng had the smell of dirty water. I didn't try them.||Evening I went to the "German Buffet" It had only the name of German. Only 2 trays of so called german sausages and sauerkraut (the latter being so scarce that you could hardly find it) then Pork dish cooked german style. had the taste of the worst dry pork you can find in China. Forgot the German buffet included sashimi, impossible by the taste to tell what fish was offered, Oysters were served stuck to their shell worm and loaded with some kind of oil and green onions. Almost forgot the egg tart. Not cooked, and the pastry had a taste of mold not matching the normal taste of an egg tart||From this I conclude that the management never eats at the coffee shop, that the management has more important things to do than to care about the property and their eventually dear valued customers. ||Forgot in the room a kettle, but not tea bag, no instant coffee.||If you need to go to Chongqing and attend an event there, think twice before...

Stayed one week at this Wyndham while attending an event at the Congress center next door. This property is not located in the city - but extremely convenient if you need to be at the Congress center.||||Rooms were big enough – bathroom too. No issues with housekeeping or cleanliness. Bottled water provided.||||Internet access was OK – slow at times but no issues connecting.||||Where the hotel lacks is on site restaurants and service – restaurants include “Chinese” and SE Asian options located on the lobby level. Service was slow. The appetizers ordered arrived after the main course. Staff was linguistically challenged which is an issue when the property is located next to an international congress center with attendees from all over the world. The other restaurants on site was where breakfast is served every AM (wide selection) and also dinner at night which varied from buffet style to ordering off what appeared to be the room service menu. Again, slow service and even poor service. When selecting a wine apparently all but 4 wines on the wine list were not available. And even from those 4 available, only the house “Great Wall” seemed to be available. A few nights some of the menu items were unavailable since they did not have all the ingredients. Very disappointing since this is a large property. And since no other options in the area (in terms of hotels or restaurants, not much incentive to improve I suspect?)||||If I ever find myself needing to attend a congress in Chongqing I would stay again; if I decide to visit for any other reason the answer...

We just spent one week at the Wyndham Yuelai Hotel in Chongqing, for business. The property is located adjacent to the International Expo Center and is also relatively close to the airport. ||While not a central city location, this is now one of my most favorite 5 star hotels inside China! The decor of this property is simply beautiful.. All of the colors, fabrics, artwork, lighting, towels, sheets and pillows are extraordinary and very, very high quality and tasteful. The rooms are quiet and have lovely, sun filled balconies with great natural and river views. It is quiet and expansive, and since not often filled to capacity, very peaceful and relaxing. ||The gym and pool are first rate, with new high quality machines and equipment, plus a separate yoga/stretching area fully equipped. If you want to swim, the indoor pool is clean and offers a very relaxed surround area. ||The breakfast buffet is world class and the Chinese restaurant is very good. All of these areas are decorated with original art and warm, pleasant, comfortable furniture and colors. ||The hotel manager, Peter, has been with this location since it opened and his European experience shows - his staff are always smiling, helpful and know what you need before you need to ask. This is very rare in China. ||We highly recommend this property if you need to be near the airport or Expo Center. Also, there is a Metro station that can get you to downtown Chongqing in...
