Mingshi Resort Village — Hotel in Chongzuo City

The Mingshi Mountain Villa was the perfect setting for pondering the remarkable experience we had just had at the nearby Detian Waterfall (a must-see). This resort is nestled among the remarkable limestone karst mountains of the Guangxi province, and is set along a peaceful river. The day we arrived was misty which made the mountains look mysterious. Local dancers were performing an indigenous dance in a pavilion set across the water from the lobby and open-air dining room where we came in. The effect was magical. We dropped our bags in our room and took an evening walk around the whole vast facility as the sun was setting. They have many amenities (e.g. pool, hot tub, archery, a cultural display, bamboo river rafts, giant bamboo water wheels, a very large adult-sized swing, open air dining overlooking the lake, front porch on all the apartments with views of the cliffs and mountains etc.). The bed was comfortable and the room was tastefully decorated. Curiously they had plumbed the bathroom sink without a S-shaped pea-trap so the bathroom smelled. The solution was simply to plug the sink when we weren’t using it. The staff was friendly. We were the ONLY westerners there, so we used our translation apps most of the time, but there were a couple of young men who spoke some English. We relaxed the next day (checkout was at noon) until it was time for our driver to take us to the Nanning airport (about a 3 hour drive). My wife said that this is one of her two top mountain resorts in the world....

The villa counter staff are prompt in responding to every request. They are very helpful, polite and professional. So is everyone else, including the housekeeping cleaners. The shuttle bus comes readily when called.Our courtyard room for 3 with a loft on level 2, with balcony facing the pool is new, clean and well-furnished. There are 4 of us and extra blankets and pillows are given readily upon request for the 4th person.The shower heater in the bathroom works well and water drains well in the bathroom. The air heater works perfectly to keep us warm in the winter cold.Buffer breakfast has a big variety of very delicious food, including hot noodle soup with meat and vegetables.The traditional dance at 8pm is a must-watch especially the lighting of fire and mass dance at the finale.Everyone and everything are excellent and make our stay so pleasant and memorable.However we still feel that the room rate is too pricey for a rural environment. Amazing scenery, hotel has free bicycles for all day hire if you stay for three or more nights which are a great way to see the countryside. Detain Waterfall is not far for which transport can be arranged. Berwick the manager can arrange anything for you, but there is very little english spoken among the staff but this was not a problem as the staff who are super friendly seem to anticipate your needs. The rooms are basic but lovely and the WiFi works fine, the restaurant has a picture menu so there are many great dishes to enjoy. The pool decks, there are three of them have the best views one could experience. This hotel is about its location it is simply amazing, Karst country better than what we have seen in Gulin, get there before the highway nearby is finished.
