We greatly enjoyed our stay in this hotel. Its location is very convenient as it is very near Dali Railway Station and it is also convenient to visit other tourist spots from the hotel. Upon arrival from the Dali Railway station, you can use the pedestrian overpass (with an elevator) to cross to the opposite side and walk for around 10 minutes to reach the hotel's entrance. No one speaks English among the hotel front desk staff but they go out of their way & patiently communicate with English speaking tourists through the google translate phone software. To go to tourist areas from the hotel is very convenient. You can ride the public bus in front of the parking lot which is located in front of the hotel. Bus 4 will bring you to the gate of the Three Pagodas of Dali & Chongsheng Temple. Bus 8 will bring you near the North Gate of Dali Ancient City. The bus fare as of Nov 2024 is 3 yuan per person. To go to the Erhai Lake ecological corridor, you can take a taxi (which is around 10 minutes ride) from the hotel. The hotel also provides free bottled water to their guests. Just get the bottled water in front of the table located near the elevator. The breakfast selection is delicious. Some tourists like us are not used to eating dishes using chopsticks. I hope the hotel could also provide spoon & fork as utensils for use by foreign tourists. The only downside of the hotel is that as smoking is allowed everywhere, one could smell cigarette smoke in the hotel lobby and corridors. To improve air quality, it is suggested that the hotel open the front door/windows so more fresh air could come in or perhaps, they could install air purifiers to...
ย ย ย Read moreI chose this hotel when I arrived in Dali as it is centric and fairly new and I wanted to check it out for a few nights. It's very close to the main city bus station but there is hardly any noise at night time so I didn't have any problems sleeping. I was surprised how big the rooms are, everything works and they have also a nice tea set that you can use. The hotel is very clean and the Wi-Fi was pretty decent and smooth. Now, even though this is a hotel belonging to a big international hotel chain, it is oriented towards the domestic market. For instance they have a good big Chinese breakfast buffet but with no Western food, and no flatware either, so if one is not good with chopsticks then..... Also, nobody there speaks any English, as is almost customary in China outside the big cities. So it's a must to have a working offline translator app handy. Only once I needed my local friend to speak with them when I had a question about the bill. Other than that there is a nice convenience store on premises but weirdly enough you can only access it from the outside of the hotel. Then around the hotel there are many small inexpensive restaurants and I quickly found a really good one that I visited then several times while I was at this hotel, right next to it in the side street. All in all, a good experience...
ย ย ย Read moreJust checked in...the process was fast and efficient. Room is compact and clean. Bathroom area compared to the room is large. Some issues ...no safety box or minibar (thought they were pretty standard but I guess not at this level). The tea/coffee maker consists of a kettle a d 2 tea bags - one black one green. No sugar No milk (even powered) No spoons. When I went down to the multilingual staff (non existant unless that means they know how to use a translator app) I was greeted with surprise that I wanted sugar. Initial reply was no but after sone struggles they went to the closed restaurant and obtained sugar. It seems as though it's gold as they only were going to let...
