This hotel is nestled back from Erhai Lake affording a marvelous view of both the lake and mountains. ||The staff were all very friendly everywhere we went in the hotel. It was a bit cold outside so roaming around the vast grounds outside was not really practical. ||The rooms were decently appointed with good linens and the usual basics; toothbrushes, comb, razor etc.||The breakfast buffet was robust with the usual assortment of Asian breakfast foods. Western folks have plenty of food too. No one goes hungry in these buffets! ||On the negative side, the food in the Executive Lounge was severely lacking for me as a vegetarian that I am for 26 years. I asked for a veggie dish of broccoli, cauliflower or tofu to help round out the large salad that I ate every evening during happy hour. If you’re not a vegetarian, then maybe you’ll be fine with the food.|The Chef prepared different dishes most evenings but many were swimming in oil which is also a no-no for me. At least he gave it a good effort. There are also no desserts served unlike almost every other big named hotel that has an Executive Lounge.||The sauna in the men’s locker room was barely large enough for 1 adult. It was only 5 feet wide - barely allowing one to walk to the rear past the heating unit. There’s an area on the seat near the door where the wood is terribly broken and corroded with splinters and cracks visibly sticking up! |There’s only a low level bench to sit on which also makes it NOT HOT. |Also, the changing area is abysmally small. Best to use the single changing room. |On the bright side, the pool is nice. Perfect 28-29 degrees and clear. ||If you don’t use the pool and are not vegetarian, then you’ll love the value. It’s a nice place but the age is showing here and there. ||Overall a 4 star rating is a spot-on grade for...

Read moreWe recently stayed at the Dali Hilton for the 4th time since they opened 5 years ago and each visit is better than the previous one. This time, our family just needed some R&R and the Dali Hilton was the perfect place. We only left the hotel once in 7 days and never got bored. We swam in the warm (!) indoor pool and alternated with one of the several hot tubs next to the pool. We played card games, pool and tabletop shuffle board in their Game Room (but we ran out of time for their mini-golf course!). The workouts in their nicely equipped gym also helped us feel less guilty about our eating habits during the week! We especially liked the Hilton's Executive Lounge where our family could avoid the big crowds downstairs and enjoy a quiet, relaxing atmosphere for all 3 meals every day. For only a little more money, we find this option to be much more affordable then eating out or even ordering in every day. After a big breakfast, afternoon tea at 2:30 was perfect with fresh fruit, sandwiches, soup and drinks. Then the Happy Hour every day from 6-8pm had it's own buffet which was plenty for our hungry teens! The free drinks, including alcohol, gave it an extra special feel to our family time. All of the employees were extra friendly and extremely helpful, especially the Front Desk Manager Edward who helped us book, welcomed us at check in, checked in on us every couple of days to see if we needed anything, and made us feel like honored guests. Blair in the Executive Lounge learned by our 3rd day what we liked and would bring it to us without us asking! Vito and Candy in the Spices restaurant also took wonderful care of us. Overall, we were able to relax and feel well-cared during our stay. We really look forward to our next and 5th visit to our "vacation home...
