Dalian International Finance Conference Center — Hotel in Dalian City

Hotel is about 30 min. taxi ride from airport (metered taxi was ~ 35RMB) located in a beach resort part of Dalian. But I came here off-season, so things were pretty quiet.||||Very nice hotel (4 or 5*) but area around hotel is primarily other hotels, gated communities and military compounds. So not an interesting area to walk around and see Chinese culture. Was attending a conference and during the conference the restaurant (the only place we could eat because no local places nearby) food was superb. Primarily Chinese, but some good Western food as well. Really enjoyed looking forward to the meals. However, I arrived a day early and found the evening dinner buffet pretty bad. All the buffet platters were cold. Selection was not bad, but it just was not a very enjoyable meal. So don't know if this is typical of a non-conference related menu or not. But be warned, I guess. We did have one dinner out. Taxi to a seafood dumpling place about 10 min ride north of hotel: YU JI JIAO ZI. Highly recommended. Menu is only in Chinese, so take someone who speaks/reads Chinese. Nice pool (bring a swim cap). Fitness room OK. ||||Overall really enjoyed it and if you are coming here for a conference I am sure you will be...

I attended a conference at the same venue and stayed in a room in the hotel villa. It is great location, has amble space (the venue even has a 1+ km walking paths within the hotel), and near the beach, a beautiful and long (6.8km) bridge, and a forest Zoo. ||||The room itself had all what it takes and very silent area (the hotel is in a large park sort of area had has a lot of land and therefore the residential area is a bit off from the roads and very silent). ||||The venue has a number of restaurants and serve good food. Room service is good and reasonably priced too.||||Will definitely consider staying at the place if I go back to...

I had booked through a conference which was supposed to have a rate of 94 $US including breakfast. When I arrived at the hotel, they claimed to have lost my reservation, and charged me an outrageous 1596 yen, or 293 $US! Nevermind my lengthy explanations or request that they contact the conference organizers - they insisted on this room rate, even though the hotel is listed in the conference website and accommodation list in the printed materials at the much lower rate. This definitely has the stink of being some kind of scam. I'm working to get the conference organizers to help get my money back,...
