Gladden Hotel Shilong — Hotel in Dongguan

It's been a few years since staying at the Gladden Hotel and from the get go it's lost a lot of its former glory. ||||Located in Shilong some 20 minutes from Dongguan Dongcheng city centre. It is convenient for the newly named Dongguan station with service from Shenzhen/Guangzhou line, not to be confused with the old Dongguan now Changping Station with its MTR intercity service to HK. A trap if you don't know.||||The hotel is showing its age and looks a little tired particularly in the hotel hallways and rooms. The rooms look a little dated but adequate for a short stay as long as you aren't expecting 4/5 star comfort.||||Breakfast is still as basic as every. The location is not ideal for restaurant options unless you travel to Dongguan Dongcheng so the buffet dinner is still a good choice or the excellent Japanese restaurant if you don't mind an expensive meal.||||The bar is still a good place to relax and have a quiet drink. I stay at this hotel during 40 days in last November... The first impact is when you arrive at the lobby...very clean, big, The receptionists were very friendly. They accompanied me to my room. The room very clean, the bathroom have a bathtube, and a shower inside. When I take my shower after 30 hours of travel from Brazil to China I had a big surprise, the drain was clogged and the water began to climb into the tub, very disgusting. I had to call maintenance and after an hour they finished the repair and I could take my shower. The breakfast is very diverse, it has international foods.Also they serve for breakfast noodles, soup, chicken, boiled eggs, fried eggs, bread, etc. Fruits are well diversified, apples, bananas, oranges, plum, grape, pineapple. Some fruits believe that only produced in China, because I never saw them here in Brazil. I...

A clean and comfortable place to stay if you have a reason for visiting Shilong Town. The hotel is not close to the shopping and restaurant districts in Shilong. It takes a five to ten minutes to walk to the nearest shopping district, or a short taxi ride. The hotel staff seemed to have limited ability to speak English, but they were very helpful. Take a phrase book if your Chinese language skills are limted. Ask for a room with a view of the river (河景), it is fun to watch the barges go up and down the river, and the night vies is spectacular.
