Stayed here for a week in March 2016 on a business trip. First impressions were great but by end of my stay wished I'd stayed in the less impressive Gem hotel just up the road. If you don't speak Chinese/Mandarin, it's very difficult to communicate on any issues arising. It took a while before I discovered there is no bar in the hotel so nowhere to chill with a beer in the evening apart from the restaurant which is not what I was looking for. Other hotels I've stayed in in China had a snooker table and/or live entertainment but this hotel had nothing. The closest I could get to entertainment was the KTV place over the road which is not what I was looking for. The local area was also pretty dead apart from a few local restaurants which were ok, but once you've eaten that's it - back to your room for some exciting Chinese TV - no English channels! There's a Western restaurant within the hotel but food was disappointing and trying to order food from your room is a nightmare. I also had trouble trying to get express laundry service - after completing the form and ticking the "express" box, I had a knock at my door an hour later by a lady saying "no time" - the express service was supposed to be a 4 hour service and I was paid up until the next day so couldn't understand why my laundry couldn't be done. After a long, long confused discussion, the lady went away and came back and took my laundry away though I didn't get it back until 5 hours later. The local area seemed quiet and lacking atmosphere - again, the Gem hotel whilst much more down to earth and in a relatively rough area was far more enjoyable with lots going on and plenty of local shops etc. Wi-fi worked ok in Reception area but didn't work in room! Overall, a disappointing and boring stay in a lavish building that created an expectation that simply...
Read moreI stayed in the 18th floor as I went for a business trip. The staff are so welcoming and nice. Only some of them can speak very few English words. If you have google translate, it would be good in case you can't speak Mandarin or Cantonese. The only downside was the wifi. It was just okay for such a 5-star hotel but not very good. The breakfast buffet is really good. The fruits are extremely tasty and the options have rice congee, oat congee, noodles, sweet corn boiled, bread, smoked chicken and may be some other lot of stuff. The dinner buffet looked good with many dessert options. But again, it smelled like sea food so I could not make myself eat anything. The room service is pretty good and you can receive the clothes back on same day in the night time if you give them for laundry provided you give before 3pm. There is a posh wellness center with fancy gym and swimming pool. The staff were good to show me around. There were some dance classes going on when I went to see around. The western restaurant had a fairly nice menu. The entrance is so majestic. There is a ktv next to the hotel and that's...
Read moreThis hotel does the job for business if you have to be there.||Location is not ideal and don't expect too much in the local area.||Beds are normally clean and rooms are very large with mattresses about as soft as the car park.||wifi is reasonable and should find one international news or TV station.||The western restaurant should be avoided at all costs but eh Chinese restaurants in the area and at the hotel is good.||KFC within 2 km if you are desperate for Western delicacies.||Foot massage and 'blind masseur' massage around the hotel are...
