Maybe three stars is being a bit tough on this property, given overall a perfectly fine stay for what we needed, but there were two clear weak points for me:|- As a Hilton Diamond member, benefits in China (especially outside first tier cities) are usually crazily good (this contrasts to say Marriott Platinum/Titanium, which ten years ago used to be quite meaningful here but has faded as more properties + partnerships)…hotels go out of their way to recognize, upgrades to solid suites, accommodating staff, other perks etc. Garden Inns are definitely a lower tier so need to manage my expectations…but recognition consisted of asking me if I wanted points or breakfast, and then emphasizing that breakfast was for two guests only (not mentioning time or location). This was just a bit strange, especially as the front desk wasn’t busy at all. I didn’t push it as we were only quickly stay over night, but a little surprised for a smaller property in Foshan. |- And then breakfast itself…again I guess I shouldn’t expect as much at Garden Inn, but the step down in breakfast quality from say a Doubletree or a Courtyard was quite a bit. Options were fairly limited; we were there early but even then things seemed to be running out. Don’t expect much in quality Western options and didn’t get it. Seemed worse than the Hampton Inns I’d stayed at before.||The room itself was fine - relatively spacious, not brand new but still clean. Furnishings were quite simple as you’d expect for this grade. Not really any sense of style, quite generic - didn’t matter for a quick overnight, but felt more like a generic chain hotel than the UrCove Hyatt brand or say a Fairfield Inn I’ve stayed in (let alone something at a fairly similar price like Atour). ||Thumbs up overall on the location though - right across from a mall with a good mix of coffee shops (I counted at least 5, including a Starbucks opening at 7 am even on weekends), Walmart, decent restaurants, etc. Also walking distance up to the lake area with some decent (for suburban China) paths.||Overall, I wouldn’t rule out staying here again if another quick rest needed in Foshan given the right price (seemed to be
Read moreI must say the service for this hotel is really worthy of the Hilton standard. Alot of my friends have been asking me why there are cheaper 4 or 5 star local hotels, but I stood loyal to the Hilton Brand because of the international and Hilton standard.||This is my 4 or 5th stay at the hotel, and every stay is special. I must commend the front desk staff, Amanda Nie for always going beyond the extra mile while maintaining professional. As I frequent China for business, occasionally, I would get a parcel or 2 left behind, and Ms Amanda will always help me keep until my next visit. The service rendered is impeccable. ||Even the restaurant is also worth mentioning, food has a good variety and good spread.||I especially love the cleanliness of the hotel, the room and the warmth shown by the staff in the hotel. It is a home away from home.||The location is also good, close (walkable) to the metro station, and close the the shopping mall and Walmart! Once can always train from the airport the hotel, approx 2hrs or get a didi.||Thank you once again for the...
Read moreThis is the third stay for us at the hotel in the last 6 weeks and it feels just like coming home. For me the best part about this hotel is the sense of calm I feel as soon as I walk in the lobby, the quiet music, the soft scent in the air, plus the warm greetings from the staff. The room is spacious, well appointed and clean. The bed is comfortable with soft smooth linens and warm comforters.Every time we needed something, whether if it was for more bottles of water or adjusting the temperature control, it’s always attended to immediately. There’s a lot of varieties at the breakfast buffet, and the coffee is amongst the best I have ever had. We’ve been travelling around in Asia for the past few months and have stayed in quite a few hotels, and I can certainly call this hotel our home away from home.I think they have exceeded their goal of making our stay better and brighter, and I can surely recommend this hotel...
