Holiday Inn Shunde — Hotel in Foshan

Overall, the experience was terrible and did not match the IHG standard.

We had requested a connecting room in an email a month ago, and it was confirmed to be noted in our reservation. However, when we checked in, the staff claimed they had no such information. After waiting for a long time, they said they could arrange it, but the connecting door had an issue and would need another 30 minutes to fix. It was unacceptable. Imagine, we had driven almost 4 hours to your hotel and were very tired, just wanting to get a break.

There was another staff member, possibly a supervisor, who assisted the initial staff member. They were able to arrange another floor for us with a connecting room, but they did not say anything like "apologize" or "sorry to keep you waiting" or not simply said, "have a nice stay at our hotel."

Another issue was with the parking. The staff told us the automated door was out of order, and we could not scan the code to enter. We had to wait until another local car came in and follow them through. Why couldn't they manually open the gate for us? It was very frustrating, and the gate nearly hit my car when i follow the coach go in .

Although there was a wide selection of food items for breakfast, they all tasted like they had been pre-cooked for a long time, and we could not feel...

This hotel is really lovely - brand new by the looks of everything and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The people on the front desk were particularly good.

The room I was allocated was very spacious and the bed was excellent. I got a really good night's sleep.

Sadly, I was only staying for one night and the morning I left I had a fantastic breakfast in the ground floor restaurant. The waiting staff very very attentive and many of them spoke English.

My only issue was not with the hotel itself - but with its distance from the airport at Baiyun. On the booking page it states that it's 46km away. Great. Out of the city, near the lake.

However, when I tried to get to the airport - it took ages. The roads were VERY busy. Eventually I missed my flight and had to reschedule for the evening. (BTW - when you arrive at Baiyun DO NOT take the airport staff's advice and take the coach to the hotel. It goes NOWHERE NEAR the hotel!)

So - if you want to stay in a new, well appointed, very comfortable hotel located in a beautiful part of Foshan - this hotel is the one you should go for. Just don't use it as a great hotel - hot for easy access to...

It was very disappointing that this hotel has not re-opened its executive lounge, it makes it lesser of a business hotel.||There is nowhere really in the hotel now to hold a business meeting or to sit and have a private chat.||The hotel does not even have a bar area or indeed a café area, where one can sit and have a chat or carry out business, so unfortunately my colleagues and I will not be staying there when we next visit the area.||It is still a nice hotel, but not ideal for business, (no business facilities) which is a pity as it is right in the middle of a business area!!!||Rooms are all of a good size, good linen and decent pillows, the rooms are well appointed and the housekeeping is very good.||Breakfast is terms of western guests a bit of a disaster, one star rating maximum.||However, if you like a full on Chinese meal for your breakfast then its perfect, coffee is awful.||The swimming pool and Spa are nice but have seen better days, its OK value for money but no great shakes.||Unfortunately I will not be staying there in the future as it lacks many business attributes, no exec lounge, no bar area, no café unlike...
