Holiday Inn Express Yantai Yeda — Hotel in Fulaishan

We travelled from Shanghai by train, so didn't arrive at Holiday Inn, Yantai until 23:30, my wife and I were very tired and a pleasant welcome would have been appreciated, instead we got a very miserable receptionist, no smile, no greeting, we were made to feel like we were an inconvenience. I understand the language barrier was going to be an issue, but the lack of information on breakfast times, facilities and general directions were poor.During the 6 night stay, the experience improved, the day staff were more helpful, again taking language barrier in to consideration, the English is passable, but not great, they gave us a free extra breakfast so our Son could join us one morning.Hotel itself is clean, comfortable and I'd rate it 5/5 for that.We were checking out at 4am to catch our flight, I'd asked already if that was OK and if I had to do anything, I was told it fine, there will be somebody on reception. At 4am we found the receptionist fast asleep on a near by sofa, she didn't wake up, so we just left key card...

The hotel is a very convenient location with a shopping mall across the street and many restaurants and shops right around the corner. The room was spacious and a comfortable bed with good WiFi and an English news channel on the tv. I didn’t have a chance to try the breakfast but the lobby and breakfast room looked very nice. The only strange thing was the bathroom door is also the shower door so if you are traveling with someone that could be kind of awkward. Never saw that before haha. If you need to be in kaifaqu district I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay...

My recent travel to Yantai came to a shock when I reached my first hotel and was rejected by them as they were not able to establish my travel history. But to my rescue , there was Holiday Inn express. Well aware staff and Good , cordial check in made it a pleasant stay. Hotel had all the necessary Covid -19 measures in place ( elevator sanitising every hour / proper checks before you enter the hotel etc ) and it just gives you that peace of mind. Hassle free and a pleasant stay and without any doubt its my top preferences now. Thanks IHG and Holiday...
