Ramada Plaza Fuzhou — Hotel in Fuzhou City

I stayed at the Meilun recently for a business trip to Fuzhou. The hotel was excellent. Super value for the modest price. The room was very clean and just the right size (personally I really don't like over sized hotel rooms). Everything worked. Very comfortable bed. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Special mention to the concierge who walked me around the neighborhood looking for an ATM. ||Fast free Wifi throughout the hotel. ||Breakfast was fine, good variety of Chinese and Western. ||If you are looking for extra water, snacks and so forth there is a super friendly super cheap convenience store out of the hotel, turn left and then left again. ||If you speak a little Mandarin it will help, but the staff do try their best to communicate in English. ||Just one small point to improve. The air-con was a little weak for people who prefer a cool room to sleep in (it was winter time to be fair). ||All in all, a big thank you to the Meilun for a comfortable stay. For the location and the fact that Fuzhou isn't really swarming with international visitors, this is a solid lodging choice if you are in town. The breakfast buffet was good quality and good value at 58RMB per person, especially if you enjoy Chinese-style breakfasts. Most rooms include one free breakfast. The gym was not luxe but it was more than adequate, with free weights, strength-training equipment, and cardio machines. The hotel also has a pool and sauna which I did not try. The downside are the rooms, which are a bit dated feeling. Front desk staff told me that they are thinking of remodeling and were eager to hear any feedback I had. Be sure to book a non-smoking room if you dislike the smell of smoke. This was the rare hotel I've visited recently that still has floors and rooms that smell strongly...

This is by no means a luxury hotel, and travelers on vacation may find it a bit too simple, but I rate this hotel higher for several reasons:||1. Everything worked as it should.|2. Hotel seemed clean enough and didn’t smell like cigarette smoke everywhere.|3. WI-FI was surprisingly fast (very impressed)|4. Shower water pressure and temperature are very good and stable.|5. Buffet is surprisingly tasty.|6. Service is pretty good.||However, the bed I slept on was so hard, it might well have been just a wooden board with sheets on it. If you don’t like hard beds, then definitely make a clear request before booking this hotel.||All in all, if in Fuzhou for business and just need a quick and easy place to stay (location is right in middle of downtown), this would be a...
