Biquan Hotel — Hotel in Guangzhou City

Stayed 3days during Chinese New year. very good service as a Chinese hotel in a rural town. Had a big room with a huge bath tub on the balcony. It is connected with the hot natural spring water. Just fill it up and soak in. facing the river and the mountain beyond. Beautiful view. We did that every day after breakfast and dinner. || There is a meter that limits how much spring water to use everyday(tons of it) they charges like 12-13USD for another batch if you want more. But the allowance is enough for 2 session of 1-2hr each. we end up have left over for 2days out of 3. There is also a big area on the forth floor under the sky where there are 30-40 different public hot spring pools, with various Chinese medicine in it. there are more hotel rooms without a soaking tub like ours. So they can come here whenever they want. It was mostly a family resort for the local. There were a lot little kids playing there during the day. but at evening there were not many people despite the fact the hotel is at its full capacity because the holiday. We tried most of pools there one evening. Decided the tub on our balcony is much more enjoyable. || The food at both breakfast and dinner are not bad. Although a little greasy and loaded with MSG. But it was so crowded. And saw enough people who behaved pretty bad, not just the kids. Pile their plate mile high until food slipped on the counter and floor. push and yelling. We had the package that includes breakfast and dinner buffet during our stay. But we ended up only tried each once. Just don't want to deal with the people. We paid all other meal out the pocket at the restaurant. Very good service in the Chinese restaurant, we can easily modify the dishes to our liking, less salt, no MSG, etc. We enjoyed 2dinner there and lunches outside the hotel at local restaurants.|| There is a beautiful park jut across the bridge outside the hotel. There is a trail leads to a reservoir on the top of the hill. it was a beautiful hike. totally covered by the woods with stream running on one side. birds and flowers everywhere. loved it. || It would be good if one has a car. there are so much nature to explore within a hr drive. Or you need to have hotel arrange a Taxi for you. you won't find Taxi on the street.|| Overall it is a nice hotel with good facility. I do speak Chinese. I am not sure how difficult It would be for Non Chinese speakers.The service is good but it is not that kind fits the usual western standard. It is Chinese style hospitality. Also, the general behavior of their clientele is less desirable. But the hotel can't really do anything about this. Just avoid the buffet, don't go there during major Chinese holidays. Last week I booked a 3-day stay at the Biquan Sky Hot Spring Hotel for myself through Trip.Com. Though there were few photos of the hotel available, the descriptions and reviews convinced me that this might be a good choice for me—but all I can say, is that the praises and kudos that I read are all understatements of what I found there!I arrived before check in Monday and was greatly assisted by Chen Yunsi, the on-duty butler. My requested upgrade was easily processed and all questions answered clearly. (With electronic translators—as my Putonghua is non-existent!When a problem in the room arose, the maintenance staff came quickly and resolved the problem without delay.I found that the massage therapists for complementary neck and shoulder treatments are very effective—but if you prefer wimpy neck rubs, such as not place for you!The buffet breakfast is combination of Chinese and “westernish” food and drink. Options for coffee were quite limited.A personal situation arose on the third morning, and I was required to leave one day early. Although the situation could easily have become stressful, with the assistance and cooperation of on-duty staff (including: Ke Yan, Cheng Min, Li Min, and Fei Long), I was able to check out, receive my local refund for the upgrade, and also receive my my Trip.com credit fairly quickly.All in all, I found the facilities to be of good quality, condition, and cleanliness; the staff to be exceptionally thoughtful, kind and helpful.
