We had an amazing experience staying at the Holiday Inn Guangzhou Airport Zone! The hotel is perfectly located just a short drive from Baiyun International Airport, making it an ideal choice for both short layovers and longer stays.
🛏️ Comfort & Rooms
Our room was incredibly comfortable, spacious, and well-equipped with everything we needed. It had high-speed Wi-Fi, a flat-screen TV, and a super comfy bed. The minibar and in-room safe were really convenient, and the housekeeping team kept everything spotless, which we really appreciated.
🍽️ Dining
The dining options were excellent! We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at FRESCO All-Day Dining, where there was a wide range of both Western and Asian dishes. If you love Cantonese food, Hao Chi Restaurant is a must-try—the food was authentic and flavorful! We also spent some time at EL OCHO Lounge for evening relaxation, which had a fantastic drink selection and a positive vibe.
🏋️♂️ Wellness & Fitness
Even with our busy schedule, we managed to make time for the gym. The hotel’s fitness centre is well-equipped, and the indoor swimming pool was a great way to unwind. We also loved how accessible the facilities were, making it easy to enjoy after a long day.
🎉 Meetings & Events
For business, the hotel has top-notch meeting rooms. We also noticed that they cater to large events, with the ORO Ballroom being perfect for weddings or conferences. The space is huge and can accommodate hundreds of guests, making it ideal for any big event.
🚗 Location & Accessibility
The hotel offers a free airport shuttle service, which was incredibly helpful. It runs frequently and makes getting to the airport so much easier. There are also some great local attractions nearby, and the metro station is close, so getting around was a breeze.
👨👩👧 Family-Friendly
The family-friendly perks were a real highlight. Our kid got to enjoy the kid-friendly warn pool, which was such a nice bonus and made us feel that the hotel really caters to families.
✅ Overall Experience
If you’re travelling through Guangzhou or looking for a comfortable, reliable hotel near the airport, we highly recommend the Holiday Inn Guangzhou Airport Zone. The service, comfort, and amenities exceeded our expectations, and it was the perfect place to relax before or after a flight. Definitely a...
Read moreThe Holiday Inn hotel is in the Guangzhou airport zone. If you need a layover, I am giving this Holiday Inn my best recommendation. I like everything about this hotel: the clean room, comfortable bed. You name it, it’s all good.||||But I really want to focus on the customer service. I arrived at the hotel at around 02:00 on Saturday morning, August 25, 2018. I was exhausted from a long flight that started in Chicago at 3:00 PM on Wednesday morning, took a long leg to Beijing, transferred to another plane to go to Guangzhou. From Guangzhou, I needed to travel to my final destination, Nanning. ||||This is probably more than you need to know. The point is that when I arrived at the Holiday Inn I was exhausted. Jeff was behind the counter. He quickly corrected a mistake in my reservation and easily checked me into my room. I awoke early so that I could change a train reservation. Jeff was still at the desk and with the help of Kathy, I decided to fly there instead. This is when Steven stepped in. Very quickly, the three teamed up and everything was arranged for me.||||I went to the breakfast buffet, which is huge. They served all kinds of Chinese and western dishes. Everything I chose was fresh and well-prepared. This detail though is important. I picked up a cup of coffee in the buffet and brought it to my table. One of the directors noticed that I had chosen the coffee best suited to Chinese taste. It was as thin as tea. In a blink the thin coffee was replaced with a freshly brewed coffee that was easily as good as Starbucks, probably better.||||Travel in China can be daunting for a foreigner. The staff of the Holiday Inn took good care of me and I appreciate this. I truly felt welcome here.||||CEO Keith Barr: If you are reading this, please take note. The customer service in this hotel is exceptional, everything else too, but the customer service was as...
Read moreAs a Diamond member, my experience at this hotel was a mixed bag. While the facilities were comfortable and the breakfast was enjoyable, the overall service left much to be desired, particularly at the front desk.
Cons:
Upon check-in (around 9 PM), I was asked to handwrite a positive review to receive a complimentary room upgrade—a practice that felt unprofessional and inappropriate.
The staff completely forgot the welcome amenity, which is a standard expectation for loyalty members.
Despite my room rate including breakfast, this was not acknowledged in the morning, leading to unnecessary confusion.
Pros:
The staff eventually upgraded my room to one with a balcony without requiring the handwritten review. However, my friend, who was also diamond member, received a suite upgrade, which felt inconsistent.
The morning staff were far more accommodating. They quickly resolved the breakfast issue, assisted with my luggage, and ensured I caught the shuttle, which I appreciated.
While the quiet room and comfortable beds made for a decent stay, the lack of professionalism at the front desk—particularly during the evening shift—was disappointing. I hope the hotel takes this feedback to enhance their service consistency, especially for...
