Nan Fang Yi Yuan Hotel — Hotel in Guangzhou City

We stayed for 2 days in Nanfang Yi Yuan(NYY) hotel in June 2011. While the rooms are big, the hotel 2 lifts smelled of fermented tofu whenever we took the lift down to the ground lobby. There appeared that the cooking ventilation ducts of the hotel kitchens are connected to the lifts vents for the smell to be overbearing.. The hot water shower system cannot be controlled properly for both rooms. We complained and they were fixed but our fear of being scalded remained.||The ambient of the hotel has the feel of a chinaman hotel, when we arrived there were wedding dinners and rowdy karaoke session going on in the restaurant fending both ends of the building lobby.||||However NYY, is near to the Changlong Paradise park and safari zoo, where 13 yuan will take you there by taxi. The parks are vast and one has to make sure the right park to go to when providing direction to the taxi driver. The amusement parks and the zoo catered mainly for the local china population rather than to foreigners. Nevertheless, we were impressed with the many white tigers in the zoo. This hotel is good only for locals,if you traveling internationally Keep in mind they don't speak English, they don't have coffee in the hotel only blac and green tea, they don't have a cafe if you feel like a nice afternoon treat and coffee after a long day meeting, very hot in lobby and I air-conditioning in the lobby if there is it's so poor that you sweating. It says health center which you expect a basic gym area but it's shocking, and not open before 8 am which you would need to do the gym breakfast by 8_9 to go for your meetings, very little options for breakfast, mainly local foods. This place is amazing and it’s safe, clean, well staffed and near the subway. All the staff went out of the way to make our stay very comfortable. A special thank you to Jim that made our stay even better when he offered to help when he could. This is an excellent choice for a long stay and short stay.
