My company arranged for me to stay at this '5-star' location in Nansha, I was happy until I arrived at the hotel.||First impressions:||1. Entrance led into empty hall, front desk is not immediately noticeable if its your first visit.||2. Not one member of staff greeted me, nor asked if I needed assistance despite me making it obvious that I didn't know where to go. I even stopped in front of the reception desk where two girls stood silently and said nothing.||3. After dinner (which was fine) I was told by my colleague to bill to the room so I did, but then no sooner had I returned to my room, I was called to say I had pay separately as the host would no cover it. Okay, no problem, BUT they told me it must be settled ASAP (it was 9:30pm!).. They sent up a guy but he hadn't brought the credit card device, so he ran down again and returned. BUT, he didnt really know how to use the machine, my card was continuously declined, so he said perhaps I can pay cash. I hadn't been to the ATM, so I said I'd settle it at the front desk in the morning to which he replied that I should pay NOW, asking me if I can come down to the lobby to use the ATM and pay. I wasnt happy but I put my shoes back on and down I went. When I got to the reception the lad was nowhere to be seen and the girls at the front desk didnt know what I was talking about. Finally we organized it.||4. BUT... while at the front desk, they asked me to formally check in with ID. I had just come from my room with just my room key and credit card, I didnt have my passport on me of course. My issue: they've already allowed someone else to check in and take my room key, why the hell do they still need a copy of my passport? What if I had just gone out all night and left early for my meeting and they hadn't seen me? In any case, they asked if I would mind going back up to my room and fetching my passport, I said NO, they can send someone up to get it. ||FINALLY, when my passport was returned, it was around 10:30pm.||OVERALL service was terrible. Unprofessional, rude at times, they need some serious training because it is simply not the standard you'd expect at a...
Read moreThis hotel is located in an area that is just developing called Nansha Coastal City. It is about 1:45 from Guangzhou Baiyun airport. The hotel is very nice, clean, and the staff are very helpful. We were there for a meeting, and it worked fine for that. The hotel announces that it has several pools, but on weekdays, only one of them was open, and the ones by the fitness center were not open. The fitness center is very good, with steam baths and the possibility of enjoying a massage at the spa (massage at an additional cost).||||The hotel has several restaurants, and we only used one where all our all-inclusive meals were served buffet style. The food is good, but after three or four days, the food gets boring as it is quite similar day after day. The buffet had a sushi section, a Chinese food area, some vegetarian dishes, and a few western options. ||||The room was very nice and large. I had a "mountain view" room that has a large sitting area with a desk, and a smaller area where the bedroom is. ||||The gardens and grounds are very nice, with paths that allow you to walk in the mornings. There is a promenade along the Pearl river with nice views of the surrounding area. There is a temple and a palace nearby that can be visited, but we did not have time.||||Others reviewers mention the hotel is empty. We were a large group, and we did not feel it that way. However, there were very few other guests. ||||The staff, although helpful, speak...
Read moreThis hotel occupies a huge area and is nicely landscaped. The built up area is also large and that resulted in a feeling of emptiness. I never thought I'll complain about having too few guests but here i felt "lonely". Was there on wed to Fri and only on Friday some families trickled in to use the nice facilities. ||Gym was spacious and had many machines but only dumbbells. 2 treadmills on a mezzanine floor and a rock climbing wall rounds it up. 2 pools- 1 indoor of 17m long and 1 outdoor 27m long. There's also a children indoor playground and table tennis room. The gym is in an annex building together with the spa.||Breakfast and food from room service were pretty good for China hotel standard. ||Hotel gets 1 star less from me due to poor wifi speed and even 4G mobile data is slow, possibly due to remote location.||It is just beside the nansha ferry terminal which is the main reason for its existence probably, though i can see potential for group corporate bookings for teambuilding etc due to its large grounds. ||Like another reviewer mentioned, the downward sloping design of the wash basin caused water to spill onto the floor when water pools. Please be careful with water nearthe edge or place a towel there.||So it's a hotel with lots of potential which unfortunately did not...
