Location & How to Get There • On the map, the hotel looks very close to Guangzhou South Railway Station, but finding the right exit and pedestrian path is very confusing for first-timers. • Taking a taxi is also tricky because the hotel is so close that drivers might not want to take the ride. Be prepared to walk or figure out the best way in advance. • The location is only good if you need to catch a train. If you plan to visit Guangzhou’s popular tourist spots, this hotel is too far from everything.Check-in & Reception • The reception is NOT on the first floor. When you arrive, take the lift and look for the red-colored area (there are other lifts for offices, so don’t take the wrong one). • The reception is on one of the 20-something floors (I forgot the exact number but it is the only floor you can press in the lift).Service & Staff • The front desk staff is helpful but does not speak English, but they have high-tech translation gadgets, so communication is still okay.Rooms & Amenities • Very spacious and clean rooms. • Amenities are great—they provide everything you need. • The hair dryer is even a Dyson, which is a nice touch.Breakfast • Standard breakfast with limited vegetarian options. • Surprisingly, no rice, which is unusual for a hotel in China.Overall, if you need to stay near the railway station, this is a good hotel. But be prepared for the challenge of finding the way from the station and the inconvenience of taking a taxi. If your goal is tourism in Guangzhou, this location is not ideal because...
Read moreExcellent hotel if you want one that is within walking distance to the railway station. About 10 mins walk on level terrain but outdoors. Interesting family room decor appealing to young children. Rooms are comfortable with attention to details and fitted with technology like auto curtains. For the very affordable room rate, I am very impressed with the attention to details that even the higher end hotels don't provide. E.g. Dyson hair dryer, facial tissue, step stool for kids in bathroom, mini torchlights, hiding the fire extinguisher behind a design plate, bedroom sleepers, safe, etc. Had a small episode during my past night check-in though, the bathroom room was stuck and couldn't be closed and we had to change rooms. The room pretty high tech so we were figuring out if it's supposed to be electronic door, but no ha it's a manual door that wasn't working. You could pack buffet breakfast from the restaurant to eat in the train if you would like but there are many options at the train station too. Would be good to improve on the food replenishment rate at the restaurant, many stations were empty. The staff from front desk to housekeeping and restaurants were friendly and helpful, equivalent to the other higher end hotels we've stayed during our stay in Guangzhou. Definitely will...
