We had an incredible experience at the Yangshuo Sugar House.||The architecture is stunning, as many guests have already noted. The service was impeccable, and you can truly feel the genuineness of the staff on site.||We stayed around Easter, and the hotel organized two firework shows on Thursday and Saturday towards the end of our trip. Unfortunately, we missed the Thursday show as it was an ad hoc event and somehow was not communicated to us, which was disappointing since we were leaving on Saturday and wouldn’t see the Saturday show either. During a chat with a hotel staff member on Friday afternoon, I mentioned how perfect our stay had been but lamented missing the fireworks. To our surprise, we soon received a message from the hotel stating they had received approval from management to add another firework show that night! We were not expecting this at all—they truly went above and beyond for their guests. ||My kids’ favourite activity was making (and eating) sugar paintings and visited the activity area every morning after breakfast. The staff there was exceptionally friendly and allowed them to create as many sugar paintings as they wanted, even extending past the scheduled time without any rush.||On another occasion, my daughter saw another guest participating in a Chinese painting class and wanted to try it as well. Although reservations usually need to be made a day in advance due to the presence of a professional artist, the staff quickly coordinated with the front desk and the artist to arrange a session for that afternoon.||We will...
Read moreThe layout of the grounds is incredible. It's a truly stunning place to stay if you're only interested in making your friends on Instagram jealous as they won't have to deal with the rest of the hotel. The service in the restaurants is terrible and, to top it off, they decided to destroy the serenity and relaxing surroundings of this beautiful hotel with a music festival. The worst part is the hotel staff didn't see it necessary to inform people when booking the hotel that there would be hundreds of people flocking to the hotel grounds for a loud music festival that takes place for three nights starting at 2 pm until 10pm at their beautiful pool. I didn't travel this far to listen to terrible club music; I came to listen to the river and hear the birds. You can't even be around the pool area or get into the bar when the festival starts as they have roped it off for festival participants. What a joke. I've paid quite a bit of money to stay here for two nights and now we're not even able to use the facilities. That amounts to robbery in my book.||||We were told we should have known because they posted it on their hotel's WeChat mini-program. Their way of fixing it or smoothing it over was to offer to help us cancel our second night here. This is a weekend in the summer time, where else can I stay of equal value on such short notice? Again, terrible service and terrible communication. Won't be recommending this...
Read moreOur stay at Yangshuo Sugar House (now run by Aurua after they took back control from Alila Hyatt Group) for my birthday at the end of March was excellent and just added to my growing affection of taking trips to the nature of China. It was a memorable stay, with the Garden Villa Suite offering a luxurious retreat amidst the hotel’s beautifully landscaped gardens using the former sugar factory buildings. The suite was spacious and elegantly designed, complete with modern amenities and a comfortable living area. However, one drawback was the limited natural light, which made the space feel a bit dim.
The hotel's service was exceptional, with friendly staff always ready to assist with any needs or queries. The hotel's unique architecture and historical charm are undeniable highlights. The Sugar House restaurant served delicious local and international dishes, and the 1969 Bar offered a sophisticated spot for evening cocktails. The spa, crafted from the old molasses storage tank, was a standout feature, offering a tranquil oasis for relaxation. Overall, while the Garden Villa Suite could benefit from more natural light, our stay at Yangshuo Sugar House was wonderful. The hotel's blend of history, luxury, and natural beauty makes it a must-visit destination in Yangshuo. Highly recommended for those seeking a unique and...
