My girlfriend and I stayed at the Ramada for a long weekend recently. Despite having stayed in excellent Ramada properties in China before (notably in Shaoguan), we were both bitterly disappointed by Guiyang's offering. I will review the few positives before discussing improvements.||||Firstly, after being shown our booking (a standard double room), we were very unhappy about the room. The windows had a thick layer of dirt on the outside; there was no privacy between the toilet area and main bedroom other than a thin clear glass partition; the accrid smell of stale smoke (almost unavoidable in Chinese hotels of this calibre admittedly); old and worn furniture and carpeting. ||||After complaining to the front desk (no English speakers) we were kindly offered an upgrade to the top tier room (suite) which was much better but still some problems such as the safe not opening, the fridge not working, poor AC, etc etc. This upgrade was really the only positive we had during our stay. The staff were very courteous and helpful when possible but a lack of English speakers made things tricky. Luckily the duty manager, Angel, spoke very good English and was a superb host.||||The hotel breakfast was poor and worse still the regular restaurant was being refurbished during our stay which meant banging most mornings in the temporary restaurant on the third floor. Breakfast service ends at 10am which I felt was a little early.||||The location is not bad - close to QianLing Park (worth the visit) and a good mall up the road. But the state of the traffic in Guiyang, easily one of the most congested cities I've visited, made further afield travel tiresome and time consuming.||||To summise, I would say spend a little more and book the Kempinski or the Pullman as the Ramada needs a huge cash investment and more refurbishment to bring it into the...

Very well-prepared Guiyang-style dishes that brought us back for a second dinner.||The staff at the hotel was in every way gracious and helpful. We were one of the very few American guests during our stay, yet from the front desk to restaurant staff, all treated us with warmth and hospitality. Quingling Park is close by and wonderful for exercise and hiking.||We can heartily recommend the Ramada Plaza...
