Haikou Meilan International Airport Hotel — Hotel in Haikou City

The only reason why we booked this hotel is because we had a very earlier flight, and the hotel is directly reachable via Meilan Railway station. The hotel is also near a “shopping mall” to do last minute souvenir shopping, and there’s like a food court nearby. So location is 5 stars! At one glance the room looks spacious and okay, but there’s a cockroach looking creature flying out suddenly and when underneath the bed frame, and the toilet seats and the shower floor looks a little stained. I think the room light is a little dull even when all the spot lights are switch on hence not really giving a bright and clean impression. Nonetheless the super huge bed looks clean and white!Personally felt that service was not up to standard of what one would expect from a 4 diamond hotel. Checked in around 6pm and there were 4 staffs standing at the counter but only 1 attended to the 3 guests queuing to check in (maybe it’s not their job to do check in?). Later the night wanted to ask about the bus shuttle service timing and the guy standing at the information counter just replied in a frustrated tone - “look at this timetable”. As it is our first time here we don’t know where is the pickup point and we asked where is the pickup point to which he just reply “this level”. We had to look around and point to the nearest entry and reconfirm is it there. So service aspect could have been friendlier. Amenities wise it’s pretty standard. Toiletries were great. 4 bottles of waters provided. 2 pairs of slip ons and 2 pairs of rubber slippers. Oh not sure what’s wrong with the aircon, set 23 degree yet it’s still making us sweat in the night. I have to say on the first day of my third time stay at this hotel, I have to travel by airport shuttle bus from Terminal 2 instead to the hotel as I cannot call by my handphone to the hotel to fetch me. Waiting time for the airport shuttle bus takes less than ten minutes. The reserved location of the room on the eighth level only allows me to see the roof of Terminal 1 which obstructs the view of part of the aircraft body. I request the hotel staff to change the Superior Double Bed room on the eighth level to the higher level tenth floor so that I can see the entire aircraft body but since the same Superior Double Bed room is not available, the staff allow me to stay in the available Superior 2-Bed Room on the tenth level for two nights. I am pleased with the Superior 2-Bed room for the airport runway view except the bathroom where the showers tend to splash over to the floor outside...

You can’t beat the location. Especially you are in transfer or there are covid cases in the city. Rooms are comfy, bed is ok, breakfast has a lot if option and is available from 7 am to 10 am daily. However you need to be there before 9.30 if you want to eat. If you are into shopping, there is an outlet mall at the doorstep. Not to mention several duty free shops included..If you fancy Western food, there are a some options available at the mall like KFC, McDonald’s, Starbucks, Burger King. There is one thing they need to improve in: check in is always super slow. And would be nice to have a swimming pool. All in all: nice hotel, reasonably priced, and good breakfast.
