I have stayed at the Sheraton Grand Binjiang twice now. On both occasions I have been disappointed with the level of service offered, far below what I would expect from a Sheraton Grand hotel, or an SPG group hotel.
On initial arrival the hotel is modern, clean and has a luxurious spacious lobby, which is all good. Unfortunately the reception staff are very limited in their international languages and struggle to understand simple requests which I would consider reasonably common within a hotel. The process of check in and check out is slow, even if you use the online check in service.
Location wise is good if you are working in the immediate vicinity or want to be in a quieter part of town but still feel safe to walk out of an evening. There are limited facilities within walking distance and so if you plan to explore Hangzhou will probably need a taxi.
The gym facility and pool are both very good with a range of cardio and small selection of weights available, as well as a yoga room. Towels and flip flops are provided for poolside area too. You will need a swimming hat though, these can be bought at the fitness centre reception but are very expensive. A little heads up from the hotel before arriving would of been nice to know to bring one.
Business services are severely lacking in this hotel. There is one PC in the corner of the main bar which is advertised as their business facilities. There is no printing or other services and I would not want to work at the PC given its very public location and being within the bar (next to the stage/speakers) not best located for concentration.
Food is generally good both in the Lobby Lounge and Feast restaurant. Choice is a bit limited and has not been changed in the 3 months between my trips.
Rooms are spacious and have a nice sofa area with good sized desk. You cannot connect your laptop to the TV in the room though which I would expect in a hotel of this standard. The telephone also doubles as a Bluetooth speaker which is a nice touch although did have to delete and re-pair on a couple of occasions as otherwise it would not connect.
Proximity to airport is good and takes around 30-40 minutes and is directly on a main highway making it a convenient route.
Overall I would say there is a long way for this hotel to go in order to meet reasonable expectations. There has clearly been investment in furnishing but it is let down by the service received from staff, particular...

PROS include:|- got us a king-sized bed with a spacious room and bathroom|- 5 star amenities |- shower pressure was excellent|- bed and sheets were comfortable and clean respectively|- front desk and concierge personnel spoke little English but we were able to communicate with them on tourist spots’ recommendation, directions and helping us to get transport to town|- there’s a small convenient store nearby around 600m from hotel|- definitely a business hotel with loads of quiet spots to discuss business and a small indoor pool|-buffet breakfast had a good spread from western to asian food; even local dishes that may look unappetising at times, just because I’m not adventurous with food.|CONS:|- since it was winter when we visited, they shut the central AC and turned on the heater. Our room was mostly stuffy and warm most of the time even though we open the windows.
